In the USA where all the big sites are (.com) they just passed a bill to kill the internet bit by bit.

giving preferential treatment to sites that pay for quick links. you might find your favourite sites slowing down.

What the Americans might actually see is ISPs giving preference to their own video content.

The FCC boss used to work for American ISP and mobile phone company Verizon which has said it will maintain net neutrality but I can't be bothered to read the small print, on account of my not being American.

The big change American ISPs are after is to not be regulated as common carriers. This is far more important because it will mean they can build up local monopolies and charge what they like.
