Just give him the £500 and let him decide how to spend it.

Sponsor a race in his name at your local dog track, it won't cost that much and put the rest towards a meal in the restaurant and a few beers.

Did that for my mothers 60th birthday at Newbury, Its Crucial won the race.
I have been asking all my workmates and nobody has come up with something decent, even chit chat is letting me down. |

I think your original idea of the Arc is a brilliant idea, making it 4 days is about right. What women wouldn't want a weekend in Paris, as for her not liking the racing. I believe in France they don't have different enclosures, so her dressed to her nines wandering around with all the Parisiennes dressed up she will love it.

Thanks paddy.
Now to find out the cost, i dont mind stretching to 1k if it has to be done and i dont have to worry about it anymore. She goes to royal ascot every year so i think she will like the dressing for Longchamp if that is what is expected. As you say, I dont know a girl who would not want to go to paris. |

Paris is a great city I.S. I've been to The Arc and it's a wonderful meeting but it is a bit chaotic. The queues for everything is quite horrendous though and it's hideously expensive for food and drink but cheap to get in. I went when Carroll House won back in the day.

I agree The Arc idea is brilliant, and will be remembered long after the songs have been sung, the drinks quaffed and candles blown out.
