Dr Crippen lives in Beauly which is a few miles North of Inverness as I know as I once stopped there.
Report trilby22 May 15, 2017 11:06 AM BST
Eternal Optimist, I believe, was from north of Beauly.
Report trilby22 May 15, 2017 11:09 AM BST
Anyhoo, I'm in Perth which - until Cripps checks in - is in the lead Cool

Akabula's near Oban - so we're on a similar latitude, though I think he may be further north.

Report trilby22 May 15, 2017 11:45 AM BST

Angoose was from Aberdeen but I'm sure Inverness is further North. Trilby22, my ex wife was from Blair Atholl in Perthshire, I had many a time up there going racing, fishing and a few rounds of golf. Lovely part of the world.

Had a very good pub meal there once in the Bothy Bar.

Must try harder, imo.

Slip, you are a fortunate fellow to have had that experience.  You could have been Laird Blue!  no worries, Palace had a good result yesterday.  Hope Chelsea put FIVE passed Watford tonight.

Report guinness2dear May 15, 2017 7:01 PM BST
trilby; you're as funny as dysentery and twice as fluid..

"Try harder" - against what exactly? A c&p merchant who can't string a sentence together? I'd get more sense out of Stephen Hawkins on a Kalimba (look it up)

I worked in the Gellions in Inverness and being a teen from Leeds
the different Scottish accents proved difficult but the Aberdonians
took the most work Laugh
Report akabula May 15, 2017 11:31 PM BST
Was the Gellion a bar on 2 levels ie ground floor and basement?
Report Breedingmad May 15, 2017 11:37 PM BST
Yes Ground level with a back bar and an upstairs bar you could get barred downstairs and were allowed upstairs
then if you got barred upstairs you could drink in the back bar but you never got barred from the back bar,,,
My first day was you guesssed it ..serving the back barSadSad

I used to go up their on business and stayed in a hotel in the town centre until someone put me wise to one on the outskirts.
Thought the hotel was called the Queens but can't see anything by that name. Maybe mistaken or changed names.
Would love to remember the small one, served great food.
Report Breedingmad May 15, 2017 11:49 PM BST
Yes I remember it had a small public bar was down a back streetso their wasn't much of a view.
