The only series which for me was literally gut-wrenching. I know it's total fiction - but I used to watch with gnawing anxiety. You hope for a none-too-awful outcome but you know - as for Hamlet, Lear and Macbeth - it wont end well. Brilliant performance by Cranston - and the others. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave...when first we practice to deceive”, made flesh/celluloid. There are no happy endings.  Just endings.

It's about how we become corrupted degree by degree. One day you're smiling as your workmate nicks a pad of paper from work - a month later you're whistling "Tomorrow belongs to me" while shovelling living babies into the gas ovens.

it's the best thing ever made for tv.

better than the sopranos and the wire imho.

explores moral ambiguity and has you constantly asking yourself whether you can justify anyone's behaviour.

better call saul is good, but not as good. it's a little simpler in terms of the conflict between jimmy and chuck (doing the right thing for the wrong reasons/doing the wrong thing for the right reasons) but there are lots of characters from breaking bad popping up again, and odenkirk is still outstanding.

3 best things ive seen as mentioned above, sopranos, the wire and bb. not quite finished sopranos yet.
one scene in bb is possibly best one ive ever seen on telly, dont want to spoil it though. Grin

Just finished watching the first two series of Better Call Saul, they were both very good, as well as a back story to Saul you also get the story of Mike Ehrmantraut which adds tension and keeps things interesting.  I'm starting to find the Saul/Chuck thing getting stretched and predictable by the end of series two, I don't know how many series they have in mind but there needs to be a new angle on Saul to keep it fresh imo. Odenkirk and Banks are very good. Series 3 starting on Sky soon I think?

I will be selling both boxset DVD's (20 episodes), if anyone is interested before I put them on Ebay then PM me, I'll take £12 for the two.

The Sopranos and Breaking Bad are the best things I've ever watched on TV. I binged watched both boxsets. They left me completely drained.

These aren't my usual choices of TV viewing. I surprised myself how much I enjoyed them. I'm more of a Downton Abbey person.

I never had the desire to follow up Breaking Bad with Better Call Saul. I can't see it being a patch on BB.

Simply the best thing ever made...I was there back in 2009 so had to wait a year for each season, made it more special really...its even better re watched as you see so much more.

Better Call Saul can be a little plodding but the recent episodes of season 3 have been brilliant, with Gus, Mike and even the scene of the swimming pool in Mexico making a return!

Yep. 10/10. Brilliant all the way through.

You'd see an episode, and be left with your mouth open, thinking S. h. I.  T  !!! I don't believe that just happened !!
And you'd say to yourself, well where are they going to go from here ? Because it can't get better than that.....

......but it does ......Cool

Breaking Bad is much better than 95% of what is on TV though I wouldn't put it in the same class as The Sopranos.

I have a lot of issues with it , especially from about halfway through , as it seemed to me that character was being determined by plot rather than the other way around as it should be in great drama.

Reluctant to go into it much though due to spoilers . Maybe a discussion for another thread.
