My good lady works in a pre-school, she had to find some white eggs for an experiment with Coke (the drinking kind) I think it's to show what happens if you don't brush your teeth. Anyway for those of my generation if there was a brown egg in the box it was considered the best and your Dad usually claimed it ! My missus had to buy duck eggs. Anyone know what they did to make all eggs brown nowadays ? Is it in the feed ?

When I was young, all eggs had white shells. Shops then discovered that they could charge a bit more for brown eggs so eventually all eggs were brown. I think it's just the breed of chicken.
There's a bit more roughage in the brown shells.

brown egg layers usually more productive [in/cross bred] on numbers hence commercially used.
white eggs, plenty about, all about the breed, white Leghorns, Lekenvelders, Light Sussex
and then the blue/green one ...
