The fuhrer has already squashed one of the main financial planks of his proposed economic miracle. Shame on them. I guess he has just found out who runs the show. Will he become a good little lap dog or fight the jackbooted hegemony of germany. They gain leadership of europe without firing a shot. Very clever.
Actually agree though with some points. To advance the European project, Germany needs to get rid of the conservatives in favour of a coalition of the left that is willing to work more closely together with its European friends.

I may be wrong but isn't it the euro that is limiting countries who need to adjust their economies. I thought it was plain and simple. Macker wanted to combine risk with germany but they won't wear that one. I speak in simple terms - forgive me.

It happens in all single currency regions such as GBP and USD and requires redistribution of capital and free movement of labour to make the adjustments required. Easier in a single nation state than in a multinational confederation. where redistribution is termed "Bailouts" and free movement is called "Immigration".

Yes, too much national egoism around among the EU countries and its people. The EU member countries only ever somewhat overcome that national egoism and allow the EU to move in the right direction in times of biggest crisis.

I think egotism is perhaps the wrong word. Some countries are percieved as better than others, for whatever reason. If they were not, immigration-or freedom of movement as you prefer- would not have affected the UK so heavily in quite a short time. One way freedom of movement has clearly not proved a success for this country.

The euro is more limiting because of language barriers. People don't move from struggling economies in the south to better working economies in the north to the extent that they "should". If you asked lots of renowned economists outside europe it wouldn't surprise me if a majority thought that the EU would be better off without the euro.

Basically we have produced lots of non skilled jobs and instead of Unions we now have the Government dictating what Employers must pay employees. The recipe of non skilled jobs and higher pay has led to movement of labour from other countries in the E.U. The question of who is to blame is being laid firmly at the door of Brussels and the E.U. and not on our economic policies and creation of these jobs .
