Did you see how old hardcore Le Pen said in the Times that Marine doesn't have what it takes to be president? Still doesn't take too kindly to how she kicked him out of his own party it seems.

He bigged up Marion and his great grand daughter as coming up presidents however. What a wonderful family.

It is going to be difficult not to tell the french 'I told you so' in a few years time.  What is a banker going to do for the majority of people. Did anyone see Sky's programmes on the french problems.  Particularly the economy and the desperate youth unemployment.  This all happened under hollande. So how is one of hollande's finance guys(and rothschild banker) going to change anything to help.  They are tied to the euro for one thing.

A banker gave us Brexit. Show some friggin' respect. They can be decent people too

France in particular always wanted to reign in the banks in the EU, regularly blocked in their plans by the UK.

What Macron on the other hand wants to implement, emphasis on wants because in France really getting them in place seems an even bigger problem than elsewhere, is a French social market economy. Something that leans on what some of the other European countries like Germany, Netherlands and the Scandinavians do. A bit of middle way and it's working reasonably well I'd say in those countries. It's not socialism, but it's nowhere near as capitalistic and big business loving as practiced in the UK and especially the USA.

Which is why I find it a bit silly if people like moisok come and talk as if Macron wants to introduce radical neoliberal ideas in France. He doesn't. Not at all. In fact, I'd say most labour voters right now in the UK would kill for economic politics that are as far centre-left as Macron's are because nothing like that is anywhere near in sight for them. It's just somewhat controversial in France because they really are still that far on the socialist and protectionist side economically right now.

I fear the french have elected their very own Tony Blair, listened to a summary of his speech by one of the BBC's girls in Paris and it was all cliches but with little substance. We fell for that in 1997 and it will be interesting to see how Macron performs when his honeymoon spell is over. I hope he is better for that because we need good government in France to go forward either within or without the EU.

I do hope you realise he is most certainly the product of the french establishment.  I don't see how he is breaking any mould. He is very close to Hollande.

He has an almost impossible task, because the expectations of the public, cannot possibly be met.  That said I thought he was by far the best candidate.  The most dynamic, the most charismatic, the most positive and most importantly, sensible policies.  I suspect he was also by the most genuine.

It was obvious SF had forgotten what account he was using and, should any doubt remain, the subsequent responses laid them to rest.

Just to remind everyone: I called Scandinavian Haven a troll who lived under a bridge scaring billy goats. Later on STUDYFORM comes on and writes "you accusing ME of being a troll living under a bridge is a joke etc etc etc" And, yes, he did write "ME" in capitals.
