Do you or anyone you know suffer or have suffered from this?

A few weeks ago my two year old grandson was having lunch outside.

He had only been there for a few minutes, when my daughter saw that he had a rash at the back of his neck.

It took almost a week for it to settle down but he was declared to have PLE.

Today another flair up when he was at nursery so my daughter had to take him to hospital and it was again confirmed that he has PLE.

It means that even a small exposure to UV light will bring it on again, and also that it can even occur through thin clothing, and even more incredible, through glass.

It is very worrying for us all, as there is no cure for it!
Only to try to prevent it with a high factor cream, and steroid
and a steroid ointment to help it to settle.

The crazy thing is, they say, that it is fairly common (10 to 15%) but I never heard of it till now!

It affects mainly adults, but can occur in children, which obviously it does.

They talk of UV treatment at hospital, where they build up gradually in spring, for three times a week, and over six weeks, but that has to be repeated every year!

Problem is he is too young to have it!

So very worrying....
