My Samsung S3 mini bleeps every few minutes and there is a one message icon.

The thing is there is no message showing!

What I do have is two message icons, at the top left of the screen, and I wonder if it is to do with them!

Also, I wonder if this is why even my new battery of Thursday, goes from 100% to critical in only eight hours!

Advice, as always, will be greatly appreciated.

I had that with my old Samsung S6 mini.
The battery running down thing. It's lie there's something running in the background I didn't know about.
Maybe some sort of chat thing permanently open?

The thing that helped me the most was simply taking the battery out and putting it back. It recurred from time to time but sometimes went weeks with no problem.
Also - Making sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi were turned off (if I wasn't using it) helped.

Thanks...Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are always off unless I need e-mail.

I've scoured Google, but not found anything to help!

AP, I have a Samsung and the battery used to drain so quickly that I sometimes had to charge it twice in a day.

I uninstalled anything and everything that I never used and it now lasts for 2 days. If you have Facebook installed and don't use it, get rid sharpish as it uses loads of juice in the background even when not being used.

My missus is constantly complaining about her battery life on her Samsung.

Do you leave apps open? When you change to another app they can still be kind of running and if I notice my battery go down fast most times I check and sure enough, there are various things still in the background. Hold down the app-change button, then swipe the apps you are finished with off the side to properly shut them for sure.

Of course it might just be cr*p. My phone (sony) has a long battery life unless I'm doing something stupid.

Thanks all.

It has always lasted a couple of days, so don't know what is causing it!
It's on charge just now so will have a look later.

My son just asked if the icon was a voice mail one but, of the four showing, two are envelope symbols, and I don't know what the other two are!

Again, I'll check later....

An update to see if this helps.....

There are two exclamation marks, another that I assume is voice mail, and an envelope which is a text message....

Surely you have a VERY young person in the family, AP.

if you click the icon (I assume top left) does it not drop down and tell you what all the alerts are, and you swipe them off to get rid of them?

It doesn't JC.....

What I've hat for the last hour or so, is 3 new messages showing, but there aren't any to read!

Now, without having done anything, they have spontaneously gone from the screen, and it's showing no new messages!!

If you have alerts (like answer phone message) "stick" one solution I found to go into apps, all apps and find the app "phone" and clear the data.
Do at your own risk but I've had to do it. Not making this up :)

It may be there is a similar one for other stuck messages, maybe depends what they are.

Thanks JC....I've done it, so time will tell....

Well I was celebrating too soon, having got rid of the voice mail icon, but that is back now!

I also can't send texts, because they go off the screen when sending!

This might explain why I have a message symbol with a cross on it!

Can't find any reference to this, on line, as it isn't shown in the lists of icons!

Very pleased, and proud, that I fixed it all on my own!

Key words, in the end, took me to someone with the same problem, and posted on "Samsung Support".

Detailed instructions on what to do for a fix so, if anyone wants to text me now, please feel free....Grin
