Ok... hands up, I'm a saddo but WTF are the script writers on Coro and Emmerdale smokin' these days? Murders, rapes, prostitution, muggings, arson, prison breaks, drug dealing and on and on and on... I know the UK is now morally bankrupt but we're talking about a residential area of suburban Manchester and a quaint English village on the Lancs/Yorks border. Please, can you fire all of your 25 year old university no-marks from the script department and bring a touch, just a smidgeon, of realism to these story-lines before  you vanish a la "Brookside". Thanks.

they'll vanish anyway, they were big when there was no internet, only 3 TV channels etc, but time has moved on and the 15 million+ that watched them regularly has dwindled to 5 mil or less with only the long term loyal viewer that has stuck with them.

Quality also started to diminish when they went from 2 episodes a week to 3, then 4, what is it now 5?

I'm not sure what year it was but the last time I saw a bit of Emmerdale Farm Amos Brearly was behind the jump in The Woolpack.
Brookside was the only soap I ever really followed.

I've an elderly relative who used to watch all the soaps and has stopped pretty much as they're all about shagging and just too rough.
Apparently even neighbours is a pile of sh1t like that, and it used to be fairly innocent.
