I have the benefit of a phone number to BT there, which is way better than talking to call centres in Mumbai,or wherever.

The question is why do they always sound so angry?

One of my best mates is from Belfast and you could not wish to meet a kinder, funnier man if you tried.

It is a very aggressive sounding accent though, unlike the softness of the south.

Married one and have been there countless times. A lovely accent and friendly people.

I think you are probably pre-conditioned to imagining that the Rev. Ian Paisley was answering your call and getting flashbacks when you heard the accent.

Donegal, which is just next to NI and have a similar twang, was voted best Irish accent by some survey which I can't remember the name of recently.

I like those slightly `harsher` accents, and singers like Van Morrison can sing love songs and ballads...well really any type of song and you feel its real emotion.
other accents it seems fake emotion, well they make you want to puke!

I like the Welsh accent.
Worked with a few Geordie lasses and loved their accent though I take the point about Cheryl.

I'm not speaking of the accents....just the way they sound angry!

Of course, Ian Paisley came to mind, as did "Strabane Man"

It's only each other we're angry with AP, we're usually a friendly bunch.

Strangely accents in NI differ so much, a Londonderry accent is much different to a Ballymena one which is totally different to Belfast ect.
