I wasn't going to have another, but after much insistence we compromised with a half.
Report TheChaser April 26, 2017 4:51 PM BST
Do they slash the price in half these days or knock a few pennies off it
Report TheCoat April 26, 2017 4:53 PM BST

If the drinkers I choose to hang around with were bothered by pennies, we would be drinking in a "Spoons", where you are not encouraged to drink at the bar while sitting on a stool engaging in conversation with friends and total strangers alike. It's almost impossible to find a proper pub these days where you can sit at the bar and tell dirty jokes to total strangers without the bar staff getting offended. I'm glad I started using pubs in the early eighties so I can appreciate what the true meaning of sociable drinking is all about.

fair enough goonthen 6 weeks you will be ready to hammer it down

TheCoat i was more late 90s starter and even since then the change is unreal

Before the smoking ban came in there was even lines in some pubs saying no smoking beyond here etc and people getting binned out.Now if you stagger when heading for a slash you get told oi you had enough.

I like a pub with a pool table keeps the social aspect of it going even if playing for a pint or game of killer

Standing order in Edinburgh would suit you i think not many seat hence the name

Just everyone standing about talking no loud SKY SPORTS NEWS EITHER

But i think spoons bought into that as well but not sure how much its changed

My Dad introduced me to pubs when I was a teenager. They just about tolerated under 18's in the late 70's. I loved the way he could walk through the door, and by the time he had reached the bar, he had been acknowledged by most of the regulars, and his frothing pint was in front of him before he had even taken up his position. He emptied his change on the bar so that the landlord/barmaid could help themselves to the correct cash while he lit up his cigarette. Everybody had nicknames, it was a home from home.

I get where your coming from as people told me how much it had changed when i was old enough to get in and now i notice it all pubs big fkcing see though windows. There is a pub in my hometown and they have n trainers dress code it has 2 pool tables but no trainers.I know people will say trainers are not for pubs but if people pass by in the summer with trainers and no pint allowed its a bit of a joke.

This is a pub that was the busiest in my town until 10 year ago and has now changed hands every 2 year since

They all think they are upmarket but the workers stay in this town and i think they forget they where dancing on they pool tables a few year ago.
