I've heard a lot worse from Chelsea fans, tbf.

I recall reading about something similar a few years back on a newspaper website. There was a picture of a Chelsea fan giving a nazi salute to Tottenham fans with his right arm. In his left arm, he was holding his daughter (about 7-10 I'd guess) who's giving them her middle finger.

How sad is that?

All a bit hypocritical after all Spurs fans have taken up the mantle of Y1d army. It's football rivalry, nothing more nothing less. You want to see low lives YouTube Wembley Park watch the classy Spurs fans picking on a woman and a couple of shirts Angry To a man all our fellas have said had we seen Chelsea fans acting like that we'd of given them a bosh !

Nope. The thug element  of football ' fans' are all knuckle dragging cretins.

actually, re-reading your post it doesn't actually indicate that, but on the subject of football fans, I don't think the thug element in 2017 is anywhere near as bad as it was in the 70's and 80's going by some of the documentaries I've seen.

Nowt wrong with a bit of spite IMO.
Look through the history of the human and all you will see is examples of tribalism at every level.
All the hand wringers want homogenised sterile brainwashed people, well it won't ever happen.

I remember the violence, that's just what it was, the owls used to join up with the Chelsea lads on occasion and have it out with some other sorts, not my thing but if like minded want it then let em get on with it.

That's when the game belonged to the people and wasn't wrestled away and shaped into a 'prawn sarnie brigade' plaything where nobody actually tackles anyone and they fall about on the pitch and business meetings buy tickets to see clubs they don't even really support but pretend they do while 'bonding' to get a business deal.

Report Cork Langer April 25, 2017 1:04 PM BST
Anfield was an embarrassment on Sunday, no passion when you were struggling, same at St James last night, we maybe limited as a team but one thing the players at Palace can always rely on is passionate support, home or away, win or lose, with the notable exception this season of the home game with the Mackems when they wiped the floor with us and the players received what they deserved, seems a long time ago now...!

There does to be a code of conduct which football hooligans adhere to nowadays but back in the 70s and 80s, anyone seemed to be fair game.

I recall a Chelsea fan being killed by thugs at Huddersfield. As I recall, he had no connection whatsoever with hooliganism.

And even where like-minded individuals are involved, innocent bystanders get caught up in the mayhem; Heysel being a tragic example.

It's been mentioned that the victim was mistaken for a Chelsea fan. Of course, that wouldn't have made the attack any less of a disgrace.

I hope the police get this person. He's likely to be the type who'd mete out extreme violence without provocation.

In December 1935, England hosted Germany in a friendly. The FA, in their wisdom, chose White Hart Lane as the venue and this was at a time when Spurs really did have a massive amount of Jewish supporters attending matches.

The German players gave the nazi salute and a swastika flew above the ground SadShocked although a fan did climb the stand and tore it down.

I thought the bloke who played the second in command was very good and a character that was spot on. (Not that I really knew any football hooligans.)
