OP's link gets it right, and the BBC does say Erin Moran "has died" rather than the currently fashionable American euphemism "has passed".

Twas a decent show.

I think she was in the very earliest Happy days episodes .   Until recently the entire cast all bar the old boy ,were still alive.  She (Character Joannie) had a few  troubles by all accounts ,was reading about her some months ago .    RIP.

Joanie was in Happy Days from the start. Not sure about the end -- at some point she moved over to the spin-off Joanie Loves Chachi.

Hmm. Just checked IMDB and the dates suggest a one or two-year overlap. Don't have time (or the inclination, tbh) to check whether she made more than guest appearances in the last series of the parent programme.

I've seen several articles over the weekend reporting her downward spiral with alcohol and heroin but various news media outlets are now saying she died from complications of stage 4 cancer. Quite a difference I'd say.

Yes Dan I saw that last night re cancer, the story however that I first read that it was her ion and that she was living on a trailer park in Indiana. It is probably safe to assume she wasn't living the American Dream.............more the reality for a large section of Americans
