i tried them. my eyes have been itching ever since. twenty years ago - avoid them.

try the laser correction? or just wear specs. all the celebs are half blind too.

I've got permament ones fitted xmoneyx.
Local anesthetic and took no time atall.
All I felt was a scratch on the eyeball.

Worn them for 30 odd years brilliant!, the latest ones allow the eyes to 'breathe' just great.

+ if you drop a lense, no need to scramble around on the floor, just open another one.
Report xmoneyx April 14, 2017 10:15 PM BST
l looked at laser ,then read the horror stories

contacts much improved
Report boxingthefox April 14, 2017 10:18 PM BST
xmoneyx  when you first try then the eye feels particularly sensitive for a moment when fitting them but as you get used to them the eye lens hardens slightly and even a bit of dust, eyelash, etc can be fished out no problem, I got so used to using them I didn't need a mirror.

The trick I found was to offer the lens up to the eye and when its close enough the eye'takes it' without effort. Hope that makes sense!.

Laser does not work on every condition, you pay the same at Moorfields (World leaders) as Booths etc, except you get aftercare at Moorfields.
Report boxingthefox April 14, 2017 10:21 PM BST
Aftercare, if needed.*

My brother (55) got his eyes lasered 5 years ago and said it was the best thing he's done. Last year he said he needs it done again.

Get it done when you're young.

oval - I read you can't get it redone
Report boxingthefox April 14, 2017 10:44 PM BST
xmoneyx, Moorfields are world leaders, don't listen to anyone else when it come to the latest surgery techniques, you don't get 2 goes with eye surgery, laser or otherwise. every eye is different there is no blanket treatment as offered by quick fix merchants.
Report xmoneyx April 14, 2017 10:48 PM BST

thommo commentry would kill me
Report boxingthefox April 14, 2017 10:48 PM BST
Oval, keep your, 'my brother, 'your Auntie', your 'Great great Uncle, tales to yourself, we're talking about a guys sight here.

WTF has your brothers eye condition got to do with the OP, FFS. This is my final word on this fred.
Report Ovalman. April 14, 2017 10:51 PM BST
I've never had it done and I don't know but don't they do just one eye for long sighted and the other for short sighted?

Just speaking to my brother, he was really happy with it but probably his age was the wrong time.

I've one good eye (I read the bottom line of the chart)and one bad eye (could only read 2 lines) and I recently got my eyes done for the first time in 40 years. The optician said not wearing glasses for all those years probably helped my eyesight, my bad eye does all the reading while the good eye does all the distance.

I now have a pair of reading and distance glasses and don't use either Crazy
Report Ovalman. April 14, 2017 10:52 PM BST
Boxing, the OP was asking about contact lenses. I was giving my opinion on laser treatment that was mentioned in the thread.
Report boxingthefox April 14, 2017 10:52 PM BST
Very last word, Fair enough Oval. Wink
Report Ovalman. April 14, 2017 10:56 PM BST
Should add, I was prescribed with glasses as a kid but wouldn't wear them. Only recently have I noticed my eyes going.
Report akabula April 14, 2017 10:58 PM BST
Nowt wrong with my vision G2D.
I can still admire a beautiful woman such as this.

Report guinness2dear April 14, 2017 11:00 PM BST
I do wish peeps would warn me of such beauty. My jaffa cake tastes sort of mediocre now..
Report akabula April 14, 2017 11:03 PM BST
I still need glasses for reading Oval.
Report Ovalman. April 14, 2017 11:07 PM BST
I've now realised instead of needing glasses, just hold the reading material further away Laugh
Report akabula April 14, 2017 11:18 PM BST
You shouldn't laugh at that as that is what I do sometimes. Laugh
The headlines in the papers are readable at arms length, okay when in the shop buying one.
