I didn't take to here much when she first started appearing on panel shows.
Having seen her on How'd You Get So Rich I think she is great. Funny, likeable, self-deprecating.
I can't think of a funnier woman at the moment.

Totally agree Jack. Don't know anything about her stand-up routines but she is splendid on that 'How'd You Get So Rich?' programme. An absolute joy. And all the rest naturally.

Watched last week's episode on the recommendation of this thread. It was clear (and she pretty much said so herself) that she'd started with the idea of sneering at the capitalist vultures but ended up admiring them.

She really has her own lane. A canadian Hooters waitress that got her mind set on becoming a standup comedian in the UK, which sounds like the recipe for being not very good. Which she wasn't (as she admits).
But she grafted and grafted, toured and toured, refined and refined (and Frankie Boyle definitely mentored her as well). Now she's arguably the biggest female standup in the country, lots of opportunities opening up for her, and (when in form) she's very funny. Good example of how hard work can help the attainment of apparently unrealistic life goals. |
