IS Nicola Sturgeon the sexiest woman alive? Is she a woman?
|
|
By:
it was such a lame PR stunt, feet up on the sofa penning the most important letter she will ever write, she comes across as a peculiar women, by I admire her drive and determination, for right or wrong. She has balls.
Remember when she first became leader after the referendum and someone on here said "it would have turned out differently if it were her in charge rather than Salmond".....well know we will see, as inderef2 will happen. Didn't think it would for another generation, tbh I don't sense at all that most of the Scottish public atm have the stomach for it, all referendummed out after Brexit and indyref1 IDK. |

By:
She's a one trick pony. If your whole raison d'être is independence, there are only so many decisions that need to be made and courses followed.
Her critics would suggest she spend more time dealing with the delegated responsibilities. |
|
By:
It made me laugh reading her letter to May. She reckoned that the UK government (yes the UK government which includes Scotland) should consult with 'Scotland' over the terms of the Brexit deal.
Scotland has its dissolved powers and laws. That is all that distinguishes it from the rest of the UK. |
|
By:
devolved? although they feel like they dissolved? vanished into Westminster.
luckily our scientists have been working on creating superpowers for all Scottish Citizens. We will rule the world from Scotland... maniac laugh. Nicola is a nut. we voted as a nation to leave. She's looking at individual votes that has no relevance whatsoever. If the Isle of Skye had voted every man to stay would it have the right to devolve? it's stupid. We voted to be part of the UK. So Scotland has to be part of the UK. It's a dicck move to get independence, when it's been settled for thirty years. I voted for independence, but she's not getting my vote again. |
|
By:
yes, devolved....i have a cold..

There's a touch of 1984 - do they have a screen in their parliament with May on. Then have a 'hate' hour??

She has no mandate. The SNP white paper for 2014 stated that a NO vote might see Scotland taken out of the EU in a future referendum.
Despite this knowledge the Scottish people voted to remain part of the Union. BTW when she speaks about respecting the will of the Scottish parliament she ignores the fact that in the last 10 months the SNP have been defeated 6 times on issues such as Fracking, cuts to HIE and cuts to the NHS. Her response has been to ignore them and carry on regardless. |

By:
Yawn. Didn't the Scottish people vote for an SNP majority?
You'll never guess what the mainstay of the SNP's manifesto is? |
|
By:
Said in the manifesto that she would only ask for indyref2 if it was the clear will of the Scottish people.
Opinion polls suggest there is no appetite for another vote. So where's the mandate? |
|
By:
Scottish National Party.
Since its inception it has been campaigning on the basis of Scotland being free and independent of the rest of the UK. I'm frankly not that fussed either way, but anyone who thinks otherwise will be asking for swimming pools with no water in next. |
|
By:
Like any other political party they issue a pre election manifesto and people vote accordingly.
They clearly said in it they would only ask for another referendum if it was the will of the people. Again I ask where is the mandate? |
|
By:
Ah right, I'm sorry. The SNP don't want independence then.
The mandate is in the vote held in the Scottish Parliament last week, not in the "mandate" that you seem to think the Scottish people somehow have on the basis of the elected party's manifesto. Were that not the case Trump would be building a wall and getting Mexico to pay for it. He promised that, it won't happen. That's politics. |
|
By:
No that's the will of the parliament, a mandate is something different.
No offence but you seem unable to grasp that so no point in debating any further. |
|
By:
1. an official order or commission to do something.
"a mandate to seek the release of political prisoners" synonyms: instruction, directive, direction, decree, command, order, injunction, edict, charge, commission, bidding, warrant, ruling, ordinance, law, statute, fiat; More 2. the authority to carry out a policy, regarded as given by the electorate to a party or candidate that wins an election. "he called an election to seek a mandate for his policies" synonyms: authority, approval, acceptance, ratification, endorsement; More verb No offence, but there are two definitions. Sorry if you only want to recognise the one that suits you. No point in debating any further. |

I think she is a big fan of the late MrsT.

Sick to death of her and her self indulgent parochial politics.
The sooner she gets her way and takes the SNP home to that imitation ikea flat pack parliament to govern on their own local issues of failure and diazepam the better. We were all born into the status quo of the U.K. Arrangement but the only people who pretend to care are either politicians or those manipulated by them.....the reality is probably based on economies of scale and a differed responsibility to answer to the families of those from a wider pool who lose sons in foreign conflicts, nothing more. England has always been Scotland's world. |

By:
When having a dig at Scottish people Dusty there are 2 things you should bear in mind.
1 Only 38% of the electorate voted for independence and the break up of the Union 2 Even more relevant ![]() |
