My mate saw him in a pub in east London, many years ago, with his then partner, the actress, Irene Handl, he also played for the pub footy team, hard to believe i know, but i trust my mate

RIP Gerald. One of Labours proper MPs who knew what the party stood for.
Spitting image had him in a Hannibal Lecter mask, portraying him as scary, and a very funny sketch with Neil and Roy locking him up so he wouldn't go knocking on doors before the 92 election. |

Wenlock Road. That was where he met Irene Handl. She was pulling pints in between acting jobs.
It all ended when Kaufman found out that Handl was a German name. Very sad. |
