Chris Huhne the ex-jailbird who persuaded his wife to say that she was driving when he was actually driving when he was speeding
On 11 March 2013, Huhne and Pryce were each sentenced to eight months imprisonment.[10] Huhne started serving his sentence in HM Prison Wandsworth but was reportedly transferred to HM Prison Leyhill.[121]
On the day after sentencing, David Burrowes MP wrote to the Attorney-General Dominic Grieve, asking him to exercise his power of referral to the Court of Appeal, as in Burrowes's view the sentences were too lenient. Grieve had until 8 April – 28 days after the original sentence – to decide whether to refer the case to the Court of Appeal, which has the power to increase sentences.[122]
Huhne and his ex-wife were released on 13 May 2013, having both served two months of their eight-month sentences.[123] Following their release, both were subject to electronic tagging.[124] Huhne was required to stay in his home between 7 pm and 7 am
