Up here in Perth & Kinross, we get our blue bins emptied every other Sunday.

Just brought my bin in and got some new stuff to get rid of ...

One of the stipulations on the Council advice sheet is, "Remove all bottle tops".

Cor Blimey Charlie, I've a few of them after the weekend but why are they not recyclable?

They don't accept bottle tops, Don.

It's the plastic screw tops I'm referring to.

Oh, can you still put them in the recycling after removing them? I have always put bottle tops in the non recyclable bin.
Report donny osmond February 13, 2017 5:42 PM GMT
just chuck them in ffs, but not on the bottle

"They don't accept bottle tops"

I might just start saving them up and send them a pressie next Christmas Devil

Gotta get some satisfaction for the Council Tax I pay for no street lights and an occasional snow plough.

plastic bottle tops are recycled indeed some countries target them as they
are so easily recycled

Once I get my airgun licence (Scottish Law Cry) I might just design a barrel into which they will fit Excited

They are a uniform size, Don, hence my surprise that the Council don't want them.

my council , durham, instruct me to put them in recycling bin, but not
attached to the bottle...

Word for word from my Council instruction sheet ... We cannot accept: Photographs, tissues, kitchen towels, aluminium foil, paint tins, glass bottles or jars, cardboard contaminated with food or plastic liners, NO BOTTLE TOPS.

I used to play "Bottletops" as a nipper out in Singapore.  They were metal ones though.
