Stoke is the poorest city or major town in the UK south of Grimsby. If they can't win a by election there when they are not in power they really are fooked, under Corbyn and pals.

These poor cities and towns like Rochdale Bolton and Hull are going to get even poorer now that they won't be bailed out by EU grants. Still that's what they voted for.

Diane Abbott is okay......you Alt-tards just have a go at her because she is over-weight and because she is black, fat-ism and rascism.
These northern cities we'll get the money from that which we save by not paying the EU £350 million per week |

I'm not having a go at her.
I just hope she turns up at Stoke to boost the vote, she's bound to add thousands of votes. Of course, she's not a racist, her comments about white Finnish nurses coming to work over here weren't at all racist.... LABOUR MP Diane Abbott yesterday defended herself against charges of racism after criticising the appointment of ``blonde, blue-eyed'' Finnish nurses at her local hospital. The black MP suggested the nurses at Homerton Hospital, Hackney, might be unfit to work in the multicultural east London borough. She said they weren't racist. But labour is Finnish ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I voted Brexit so I'm obviously racist - and thick.
But I don't like Diane Abbott because she's a hypocrite - Diane Abbott has been labelled a “sell-out” for sending her son to a private school after she hit out at shadow ministers for resigning from the Shadow Cabinet in protest at Jeremy Corbyn’s reshuffle. And I despise even more the odious Harriet Harman who accused a man who is now dead and can't defend himself of demanding sexual favours to get a better POLIIICS degree ... Politics degree FFS, I'd be ashamed, but that's another matter. His poor wife and family. Harman has previous hypocrite form ... Labour was bracing itself for fresh embarrassment over its education policy after the disclosure last night that Harriet Harman, shadow Health Secretary, is to send her son Joe to a grant-maintained grammar school in Kent. Ms Harman's son - whose elder brother Harry,13, goes to the Oratory, the grant-maintained Roman Catholic comprehensive attended by Tony Blair's son Euan - has secured a place in the highly competitive examination for the selective St Olave's School, a boys' grammar in Bromley. Ms Harman is married to Jack Dromey, a Transport and General Workers' Union official. Labour Party policy is opposed to the principle of selection in schools. Ms Harman's son was one of the top 90 in the examination, out of 700 applicants. The 11-year-old is at present at a local state primary school, Dulwich Hamlets, in south London, acknowledged as a feeder school for St Olave's, a state school which has opted out of local authority control by becoming grant-maintained. The school is selective as well as grant- maintained, which makes the decision particularly sensitive. |

By Harriet's son taking one of those places in St.Olaves she is stopping one of you right-wingers getting his kid in there.
If he is bright enough to come in the top 13% of applicants in the tests then it is best he takes his place, as we need as many future left wingers to be educated to as high standard as possible. He can also convert as many undecideds to left of centre politics while he is there. As for Diane Abbott, she was giving her son the best education that she thought was available, why should she decide to act detrimentally to her son just for the sake of ideology. Charitable status should be removed from private schools and they will collapse as a failed business model. Why should the average working man pay through his taxes for the kids of the rich to get a special education. |

You are right people like Diane Abbott should be able to spend their money how they want and if they want to spend it on their kids education there is nothing wrong with that.
I also agree that charitable status should be removed from private schools. They won't collapse as a failed business model (perhaps there will be a few less) but just suppose they did like you are suggesting. Then the average working man (or woman) will have to pay through his (or her) taxes to fund all of their state education, rather than just funding their tax break. Also prolly half or more of the students are foreigners and we will as a country lose all of that income. So your ill thought out logic and conclusion doesn't stack up in practice. |

Diane Abbott's appearance and personality does her no favours. I'd level the same criticism at Iain Duncan Smith and Michael Foot. But she's not just a physical heavyweight, she's also an intellectual lightweight, (unlike Michael Foot) who would be completely out of her depth as Home Secretary, as is her beloved leader.

I am not a racist, honest. Some of my best friends are green. But seriously, nobody with an ounce of logic can be a racist ... it just doesn't make sense ... to dislike somebody you don't even know because they are a different colour. Not me. But I like you, you entertain me when I'm bored between races that I'm not interested in. So does Breedingmad and Anxious ... all funny guys. Stck together, we need a few socialists to entertain us. |
