Many years ago when I was at school the Winter months were,November,December, and January,so the first day of Spring was 1st Febuary.as I got older someone changed the goalposts and declared the first day of Spring as the 1st March ,leaving Febuary in Winter. Not happy with that someone else came along and changed the first day of Spring to the 20 th March,So can someone tell me the Offical first day of spring, and if its 20th March does this mean that Summer starts on the 21st june.

Highly contentious subject, I agree.

It's the Spring Equinox, for me.  Circa 21st March.

Spring starts on March 20th @ 10:28 this year.

Summer starts June 21st @ 04:24.

January and February are, to my understanding, the coldest months of the year so it makes sense that March commences Spring
