In my old job I'd come across old Victorian newspapers. In them there would be articles that would say something like this, The Wasambi warriors were subdued by the 3rd battalion six weeks ago in the Transvaal. (not historically accurate) but the point was there were huge lags in the news so people could not stick their oars into the government's affairs.
Nowadays everybody is up in every other body's business.

we can't build anything quickly?
we form committees that take twenty years to come to a decision.

Alexander the great conquered everything in three years.?  no chance now?

typical news reaction to Trump - wait a month?
news frenzy.

What about hidden cameras.
