She sidestepped a question about whether she wanted to be prime minister and focused on explaining why Britain should stay in the EU. May said: “That is one of my messages in terms of the issue of the referendum, actually we shouldn’t be voting to try to recreate the past, we should be voting for what is right for the future.”

I still don't see your point re how she voted. She voted to remain but the majority of those who voted chose to leave. She is ignoring her own feelings on the matter and doing what she is paid to do which is represent the voters wishes.

if you ridicule those then thats your choice

Donny Wiki can be edited and anything put in. As a source of info I view it very suspiciously. Anyway can you explain why May voting to remain and then subsequently becoming PM shows a lack of principles?

She is placing uncertainty on this Country due to her continued mishandling of Brexit. If she is so principled why is she damaging the business confidence in our Industry Banking?

I can't believe people who expect politicians to have principles.
Where have you been the last 50 years.
Scandal after scandal after scandal ... labour, tory and liberal.
I'm just old enough to remember Harold Wilson's lavender list right through to MPs getting away with stealing tax payers' money (but called expenses) ... only a handful prosecuted.
Politicians, principled ... wakey wakey.
At least Donald's not a politician, even if he does tell porkies.

Yer all over the place with your arguments BM. Mishandling Brexit? How? You really need to stop reading soundbites and rely on facts. As regards banking what specifically are you meaning?

may said it would be bad to leave single market, she isnt fighting for that, or at least it seems that she is not. ....maybe she is , but saying she isnt.
we shall see
of our politicians i find her one of the better ones, but i dont think she is strongly principled

Let's talk about Jeremey's principles should we BM?
Lobbied against the EU for decades, becomes leader and changes his tune to follow the party line. Hilary Benn explained to him it was Remain or you can't lead the party. Then Jeremy loses his voice on the whole campaign.
What a wilting hypocrite.

donny just for fun, can you name me a senior politician in the last 50 years who you consider to be principled? One that you would trust with your life. One that can't be bought.

Well I don't think anything she has done so far points to an unprincipled person. As regards leaving the single market May cannot say anything else and must come across as ready to leave the EU no matter what. Bit like a poker player and she'll play her cards when needed. She obviously wants a good deal for the UK but is realistic enough to know that it'll be the same for the EU delegates. Much has been said about the lack of information being given out but surely the more she says on what she's willing to compromise on then the weaker our hand.

i dont know whether you would say it was a great act of principle but i found the resignation of estelle morris as secretary of state for education rather refreshing. she admitted she just wasnt up to the job and so left her role.
kate hoey regularly votes against her own party as did the great british eccentric ann widdecombe.

By the time her Negotiating team have wrapped all the trade deals in 7-10 years time these Politicians will be long gone ,the Country will be broke and they will be remembered as the fools who initiated the will of the tabloids.

Good point alun, however if Labour had won the 2015 GE, there would have been no EU Referendum and just perhaps Clinton would have won without the Brexit factor ?

sorry I missed that. Teresa May's not a principled politician in my book.
Sorry, but FFS sake she's got a degree in geography. WTF use is that? And this ...
In 2010, May promised to bring the level of net migration down to less than 100,000.[76] In February 2015, The Independent reported, "The Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced a net flow of 298,000 migrants to the UK in the 12 months to September 2014 – up from 210,000 in the previous year."[77] In total, 624,000 people migrated to the UK in the year ending September 2014 and 327,000 left in the same period. Statistics showed "significant increases in migration among both non-EU citizens – up 49,000 to 292,000 – and EU citizens, which rose by 43,000 to 251,000."[77]
Why didn't she resign having failed so badly?
BTW I'm a Conservative supporter - all my life - but I want politicians I can trust, not those who do anything to keep in.

Only pleasant thoughts for Brexiters who seem to be the only ones who know where the Country will be post Brexit with Trade deals all over the world while the largest trading block in the World the E.U. Looks across jealously thinking why didn't we trade with the rest of the world.

BM - Post Brexit we will still be doing trade with the EU. Remember this is two way deal and as our exports are less than our imports the EU has more to lose.

No a compromise will be reached as it will be to both our benefit. Some of the EU negotiators have already said that it is in everybodys best interest to reach agreement.

Tariffs work both ways Donny, so it is also in the EU's best interests as we he a trade surplus with them.
Listen, the elephant in the room here is how important the UK economy is to NATO. Is the EU really going to attempt to financially demonise the UK, when they are so reliant on the UK for European security? Once all this political C O C K waving has petered out, the business approach around the table will be a compromise for all sides.

Yes aka, like Breeding mad, they are full of contradictions. It's a self fulfilling prophecy but then they say no-one knows what will happen.
They are all over the place. Luckily BM never leaves his bedsit, he probably struggles to understand the green cross code.

What you twittering about BM. We already know the thoughts of some. And the general consensus would seem to be for compromise. Do you think anyone wants to lose any trade?

One Nation Theresa speaks with forked tongue ,the latest in a long line of tory leaders who pretend that they are onside with the people with lovely long speeches about realising how people struggle to keep head above water whilst at the same time stabbing people in the back with her vile policies

anxious - you may be right - but even me(as a corbyn supporter) realises we are completely fkd as far as any fair play goes. The whole lot of them bar Skinner, are habitual careerists and liars. So where do you propose where we go from here?
Not with 200,000 screaming women on a day out!!!

Breedingmad 26 Jan 17 15:50 The truth of the matter is nobody has any idea what will happen but Brexiters claim they do.
So why are you on here day after day telling us, with great authority, what is going to go wrong?

I didn't think that the Remainers wanted any rash decision making BM?
Now you suggest the Tories are working too slow.
Again, you are all over the place on this subject.

I think you'll find she is all over the place ,my views are pretty simple it's all a daft idea there is no magic Utopia outside the E.U. trading with the rest of the world.

Yet earlier on in the thread you state the nobody knows what will happen. No Leavers have mentioned magic Utopias, you debate with a 6th form student mentality.
Once again, you contradict yourself.
Hence why i say, you are all over the place.

Spain backs early trade talks in Brexit negotiations
The EU should begin trade talks with Britain relatively soon and has no plan to impose a “punitive” Brexit agreement that would weaken London as a financial centre, Spain’s foreign minister has said.
Alfonso Dastis made clear in an interview that Spain was sympathetic to several key British demands — notably London’s call to negotiate a trade deal at the same time as the separation talks with the EU.
There you go BM some good news, try not to paint your entire outlook black like a gothic lefty.

It was good that Boris raised the punishment issue. As the threats which scared the remainers melt away, their attempts to talk down this country will look increasingly foolish.
