Jeremy Corbyn has been accused of making a "jaw-dropping gaffe" after he offered his condolences to the family of a "dead" policeman - who is still alive.

Theresa May opened her weekly Prime Minister's Questions session by saying her thoughts were with the officer, who was seriously injured in a shooting in Belfast at the weekend.

The Labour leader followed up her comments by "expressing condolences... to the family of the police officer who lost his life over the weekend in Northern Ireland".

However, the officer survived being shot in the arm three times and is currently recovering in hospital.

Mark Lindsay, chairman of the Police Federation for Northern Ireland, said: "I'm appalled that the leader of Her Majesty's Opposition should get this so badly wrong on the floor of the House of Commons.

"It was a jaw-dropping gaffe and he should immediately apologise to the officer and his family.

"Mr Corbyn was either poorly briefed by his staff or he's that much out of touch with what is happening.

He made a mistake. Yes embarrassing. Yes insensitive to the family,.

But when compared to what is happening to this country, with thousands homeless, people dying from being refused benefits, patients unable to be treated in hospital, people unable to get treated  in their homes. Thousands in poverty and queues at food banks   growing daily..

I think some perspective is required.

How many British Homeless people will Facts be giving a home to, given his apparent concern, and in the light of his assurances that he would be giving a home to a Syrian Refugee?

Remember, he told us it was 'the only moral and humanitarian thing to do'.

But the marches in this country were mainly against trump - they seem less interested in the misogyny of certain other groups.  They seem to scram anti trump messages rather than other issues closer to home.

Labour is becoming a fringe party with the hapless Corbyn as leader. They will be lucky to win 100 seats in the next election.

This sort of thing happens all the time, with wrong information leading to errors.
As soon as Corbyn does it... Surprise surprise, the press will be all over it.

It has been proven beyond doubt, whether you like, support or are interested in Corbyn or not, that he has had and continues to get the most (by volume) negative publicity, ever, of any politician.

He's frightening the establishment, and not for the reasons you lot think.

It never stops, the geezer hasn't had a chance since before he got his job. Tie on, Tie off. Bow or not bow. Turn up or not turn up, etc etc.
I mean, if this is the biggest error that can be found you should all be baying for him to be PM instead of the current unelected one.

(Weird isn't it. All over this forum was Gordon Brown was never voted for as PM, we should have an election. The same thing happens with May, not a peep. Sums this place up).

The latest ICM poll for the Guardian has topline figures are CON 42%(nc), LAB 26%(-2), LDEM 10%(+1), UKIP 13%(+1), GRN 5%(+1). It was conducted over the weekend and changes are from a fortnight ago, before Theresa May’s Brexit speech. The sixteen point Tory lead is similar to YouGov’s poll straight after May’s speech, and both show a modest increase in the Tory lead (though the actual level of Tory support is unchanged in ICM).

most people won't have a clue who their local MP is. generally they will vote for a party or leader of said party

we all know corbyn is totally incompetent but surely he should have some advisers who have the vaguest scooby to prevent him for making such a embarrassing mistake. they spend ages preparing for PMQs

it gets worse

to fight the stoke by election jeremy has selected his mate who tweeted that brexit was sh1t sh1t sh1t. this in an area that voted 70% for brexit.

labour have gone from 1.83 to 2.42 to win. UKIP gone almost identically the other way in the market. that's ironic given traditional labour voters are looking the other way to what jeremy looks.
