Just as i was even looking at the forum a page just materialised and "informed" me  that my bt broadband account was "suspended" and urged me to click a link on the page, needless to say i didn't.
A gentleman from India last week wanted access to my computer as they said openreach technicians had problems in the area, another one doing the rounds,he got the long finger on pretence of knock on door.
Be careful, i know most are well clued up but easy done.

This ' require access to your computer' scam has been around a long time. It tends to come in waves. Sometimes it BT, others it's Microsoft.
Depending on mood, they either get told to F off immediately, or I lead them on, asking them to repeat what exactly they want me to do, and when it comes to them asking me to switch on my computer, I tell them I haven't got one. The phone quickly goes down the other end.
Report saddo January 10, 2017 9:35 PM GMT
I infuriate them so much that they ring back to continue trading insults, 3 call backs is my record.

Good lads, that is the way to do it, i get fairly few as ex directory but usually tell them this is the institute for marine biology and is there anything i can help them if the problem is maritime related.

I am "bad" with computers generally though. was surprised with this page just coming up out of the blue this evening,it didn't look an official bt page but still was trying to prompt you to press a link.

With bannings and yellow snow warnings on the forum things are bad enough without getting caught out by some Indian named Robert.

I got this on Monday, allegedly from Amazon.....

"Thank you for everything....Hello Dear! Thank you for everything,we hope you enjoy this Amazon gift card! £50.00......"

Needless to say that it was binned immediately, and I don't know what the rest of the message said.

Amazon, M&S, Argos and most other big names being used AP.
Hover over e-mail title and you'll see it's nonsense.
I block them as they come in.

These attempted parasites have come up with a new scheme to answer your phone. In my case they used a mobile number for me to answer......07700900375. I tried to phone them back to give them some lip but the number is unavailable.

Like I said nothing more than parasites trying to dupe the vulnerable.
