To be fair he did admit he was off his head on drugs most of the time in the 70's..

Yes, from approximately 1970 to 1977.  Thereafter he was a businessman first, second and third, and certainly from '82 onwards.

Bowie was taught a very expensive lesson by a shrewder operator during his artistic peak, and I'd say for most of the rest of his 'career' he concentrated getting back what he thought he was due. He pulled a few nice strokes himself. Anyone remember the 'Bowie Bonds'?  Not long after written down to Junk Bonds status.

The very epitome of the type of person the Lefties hate, but true to form these unfortunate truths were airbrushed out of history in the grieving lefty media obituaries.

It's ok Wes, Breeding was off his head when he made that  blunder.

Bowie was a bit of an odd one imo. I remember some of his right-wing rants but he also turned down a knighthood unlike some of his more right-on contemporaries.

   According to Wikipedia[1], David Bowie sold about 140 million albums. Recently sales have gone up[2], following his death, so I suppose that number's going to be higher soon.
