Its another world out there.
I used to see the cans and little bottles on the shelves at Tesco while getting my 4 for a fiver and thought too expensive - what is the point?
Now a massive convert.
I particularly have a test for those with loads and loads of hops. High %. American Pale Ale. They aren't really session beers. Drink them in a nice glass.
Beavertown and other London breweries, Lagunitas, BrewDog are some of the most commonly seen.
Its another experience.
Any other converts out there?

Hate this fad with a passion.
Pay £4 for a pint which you may or may not enjoy. It's the fatties getting their way again as these are drinks to go with food, or have a hint of food/flavour in them. It's all very gimmicky too. Do you all wear flannel shirts when going down the pub? Hipster clowns. |

All you need is one of the following in a pub:-
Carling/Fosters - cheap and nasty for those who like it like that. Peroni/Stella - for the more "sophisticated" chav who can handle it stronger ABV. San Miguel + other Spanish beer (Estrella or Mahou) for the "cultured" choice. |

Shipyard is my default if there are not any decent casks on at Spoons. Dunno how well it fits the APA label though. I guess it is Banks's/Marstons brewery. They make beer for Lidl including No. 2 Green Gecko. But I may start trying some of Spoons craft tins or bottles once I use my CAMRA 50p vouchers up!
Will look out for Anarchy. Will try AP's Barber Bok. Where might I find it? Hamsterdam - each to his own. I have been through the Carling/Fosters phase. I have been through the Peroni/Stella etc phase. I have been through all those phases. I think I am even passing through the Camra real ale stage. I don't like all craft ale. I don't want coffee in my beer. I don't like many saison beers. I don't eat if I am drinking. I may have a kebab later though! There are plenty of stouts, porters, and great tasting lagers in the craft field. Its a battle against these big brewing giants. (Until of course the InBev's of the world buy them up!) Its not a fad its a revolution. |

i used to drink standard pub lager carling etc but plate matures with age and after you've turned 20 you will realise.
agree with jack some of crafted beers ve tried are awful, persobnally prefer blonde ales, not too strong, approx 4 %. anarchy blonde star, tyneside blonde ( from hadrian /border brewery ) or mordues northumberland blonde ale , all very nice. my local sells them all, and only approx 2.70 but hey thats what get for living in the north  |

With regard to paying £4 a pint for something you don't like, most pubs allow you to taste before you buy.
Was in Black Edge brewery tap at the weekend. Bolton. All beers £2.50. BrewDog, if you like it...4 cans £5.00 Asda. £1.25 a 330ml can 5.6%. |

My son bought me five different beers, including this one, from "Beer Ritz" in Headingley, Leeds. To give you an idea of how flavourful it is, I can tell you that it's 8.5 AVB.... |

craft beer invented for hipsters - still pasteurised and carbonated
i only drink bottled conditioned - loads of micro breweries in the UK producing this great stuff as well as the big breweries. Fuller's Bengal Lancer in every supermarket. Still has hops floating around in it so I count it as one of my five a day  |

I think there are two sorts of beer. Good beer and bad beer.
Need to get away from cask good, keg bad thinking. Will have to try Bengal Lancer. |

Its not a fad its a revolution. I agree. You can get many blonde English beers but they are still using hops from way back and lack flavour. The Americans have new hops and those intent not using them will suffer imho. |
