They are a joyous magical thing imo, admittedly not to everyone's taste tho.
I do not dislike them - saddo - In fact, a good Firework display is, as you say, "a joyous thing."
However, and unfortunately, half the population now appears to think that they are all pyrotechnicians - and almost on a daily basis, aswell.
As the old saying says ... 'There is a time and a place for everything'.

Indeed so, I spend hours watching fireflies every May, also magical.
