Three years ago, a GoPro photograph of the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, went viral and changed the course of Henry Do‘s life. Since then, the Las Vegas-based photographer has taken to the skies all over the world. Do bought his first drone back in 2015. He got his second drone a week later. Last fall, he told Full Drone that his favorite photograph was one he’d taken on the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. This post gathers together a number of his incredible images including Yellowstone National Park, Monument Valley and the Hawaii’s amazing landscapes.

When the Spanish first arrived in Tenochtitlan (now downtown mexico city) they thought they were dreaming. They had arrived from incredibly unsanitary medieval Europe to a city five times the size of that century’s london with a working sewage system, artificial “floating gardens” (chinampas), a grid system, and aqueducts providing fresh water. Which wasn’t even for drinking! Water from the aqueducts was used for washing and bathing- they preferred using nearby mountain springs for drinking. Hygiene was a huge part if their culture, most people bathed twice a day while the king bathed at least four times a day. Located on an island in the middle of a lake, they used advanced causeways to allow access to the mainland that could be cut off to let canoes through or to defend the city. The Spanish saw their buildings and towers and thought they were rising out of the water. The city was one of the most advanced societies at the time.
Anyone who thinks that Native Americans were the savages instead of the filthy, disease ridden colonizers who appeared on their land is a damn fool.

When most people envision Katmai National Park and Preserve in Alaska, they think of bears. Katmai is one of the premier brown bear viewing areas in the world with over 2,200 brown bears estimated to live in the park. Every summer, many bears gather at Brooks Falls to fish for salmon and pack on the pounds before winter arrives. It’s also a great chance for young bears to learn how to fish from their mothers. The colors at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Oregon will make you do a doubletake. The yellows, golds, blacks, greens and reds of the Painted Hills are beautiful at all times of the day, but are best lit for photography in the late afternoon. Inukshuk, pronounced (in-ook-shook), is a stone monument erected in the image of humans. One of their purposes was to serve as direction markers in the harsh and desolate Arctic. They were a tool of survival and a symbol of unselfish acts of the Inuit people. The Inukshuk symbolizes co-operation, balance and unselfishness; the idea that teaching and group effort is greater than individual effort. Each stone is a separate entity, yet each supports, And is supported by the one above and the one below it. No one piece is any more or any less important than the other. It’s strength lies in it’s unity. Its significance comes from its meaning as a whole. The Inukshuk reminds us of our interdependent responsibilities to invest our efforts today, to direct a better way for all of us tomorrow.

Husum (North Frisian: Hüsem) in Schleswig-Holstein, Northern Germany. The town was the birthplace of the well-known novelist Theodor Storm. It’s also home to the annual international piano festival “Raritäten der Klaviermusik”, which takes place at the local castle. Husum was first mentioned as Husembro in 1252. Like most towns situated on the North Sea, it was always strongly influenced by storm tides. In 1362 a disastrous one, the “Grote Mandrenke”, flooded the town and carved out the inland harbor. Before this date Husum was not situated directly on the coast. Locals took advantage of it and built a marketplace, which led to a great economic upturn. In the 1300’s, the population grew rapidly. 2 villages were founded. The name Husum was first mentioned in 1409. It’s located 80 km west of Kiel and 40 km southwest of Flensburg.
