Bob Champion, who makes millions for charity/cancer research/ ignored again, but Mo Farah gets a knighthood walos.
Good to see Ray Davies get honoured in that way though

But I had to find out he was knighted by checking the lists on the government's website.
It's one thing given knighthoods to active sportsmen and women (comparing say to Rylance's incredibly long career on the stage), but for the media to selectively report on accolades for those whose achievements are well known at the expense of people like Professor Balasubramaian is a f*cking disgrace.

Morpeth - my daughters just gave me a hard time re my comments re Victoria Beckham - she got it jointly for contribution to Charity work and Fashion (promoting British). I know she has a face like a s_macked a_rse but they did made a credible and convincing case

During the trial it was revealed that Dodd had very little money in his bank account. He did however have £336,000 in cash stashed in suitcases in his attic. When asked by the judge, "What does a hundred thousand pounds in a suitcase feel like?", Dodd made his now famous reply, "The notes are very light, M'Lord."

Dodd was represented by George Carman, who in court famously quipped, "Some accountants are comedians, but comedians are neveraccountants". The trial lasted three weeks: Dodd was acquitted.
Despite the strain of the trial, Dodd immediately capitalised on his new-found notoriety with a successful season running from Easter to Christmas 1990 at the London Palladium. It was there he had previously broken the house record for the longest comedy season at the theatre, in 1965, with a residency lasting 42 weeks. Some of his current material mocks the trial and tax in general. For a while he introduced his act with the words, "Good evening, my name is Kenneth Arthur Dodd; singer, photographic playboy and failed accountant!"

I hope Dodd gets stripped of his knighthood, because I want to see the headline:
KEN DODD'S GONG'S GONE!
And we could finally forget about his dad's bloody dead dog.

True Story - Doddy was doing a show at the Crawfords Club in Liverpool. Father-in-law was the compere. Two good supporting acts on then Doddy due on at 10.00pm. Father-in-law came over and said he wont go on - wants paying in cash but the committee said no. Stand off for an hour and the committee gave in. Doddy came on as though nothing had happened and stayed on for two hours.Magic night. He had done a show earlier that night at St Aloyious where I'm certain he was paid in cash. Well deserved Knighthood when compared to those who have already got one.

Justin Rose is every bit as successful as Ennis and had probably been active for longer. An MBE is almost an insult, they give them to lollipop ladies for feck's sake! What about Tyson Fury, did he get anything?

Lester got off after a negotiated settlement with the Inland Revenue over unpaid back taxes -- but then he paid it with a cheque drawn on a bank account he had not declared. And that is why Lester went to prison.
There's a programme about it on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Se0kMospmc

Knighthoods (and damehoods, if that is a word) should be given to players when they retire. It will make me cringe in six months time listening to Wimbledon commentators talking about "Sir Andrew".
Come to think of it, the media seem more keen now to use people's titles, like Sir Terry [Wogan] and Sir Antony [AP McCoy], than in years gone by.

I know Danny Boyle turned one down, as did my favourite Bond girl Honor Blackman who also blasted Sean Connery for accepting and then moving abroad to evade tax.
