A highly effective introduction and chorus but otherwise a run of the mill rap from Snap.

Compare and contrast with the meaty, beaty powerhouse of Survivor's Eye Of The Tiger, throw in Sylvester and a third installment of Rocky and it really is a complete and utter mismatch.

Bizarrely, we've got John Deacon and Freddie Mercury to  thank for the song being brought to the public's attention.
Stallone wanted to use Another One Bites The Dust for the Rocky III theme tune but Deacon (songwriter) and Queen said no.

Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

Come on Barney and Phil, serve up a cracker tonight and may the best man win Grin

My dad is an Al Jolson fan, but Eye of the Tiger is one of his favourite songs. Still think it's crazy that Philly put up a statue of fictional Rocky years before Joe Frazier got one.

Didn't really see "the real Cuba", spend almost the entire holiday inside a tourist compound.

What was interesting was seeing the cultural mix of Cubans, very much a mini Brazil in that regard.
And, of course, the big Cuban joke.

Teacher to Cuban kid : What do you want to be when you grow up ?
Cuban Kid : A tourist Laugh

Sad but true, a very downtrodden people but with a wonderful spirit and lust for life.

Foinavon has got some nice paintings of Cuba on the drawing thread...must be a photogenic place for tourists, with all the big motors and sunshine, etc.

And it's an island, innit, so plenty of opportunities for lovely clear blue waters melting in to soft blue skys and the good old sunset thrown in for good measure.

Very good to see you back Angoose by the way. When I saw your name a few days ago for the first time in many years I just assumed it was a thread that had been dug up from 2006!

Yeah, my recognition software confirmed it was indeed the real Angoose, but I thought I'd act casual, like he's just returned from a short holiday in Cuba or Switzerland or something.

Cuba was before my disappearance, Switzerland was during it (went there on honeymoon) and also turned up in Gibraltar in a 50 foot piece of fiberglass having set sail from the Azores Happy

I read a funny wee story recently about Eric Bristow.

He was at a dinner where Muhammad Ali was also present and wanted to get his autograph but didn't fancy asking the great man for it directly.

He turned to the bird sitting next to him and asked her "Excuse me, darling, will you ask Muhammad Ali for his autograph for me? Cheers love"

She promptly told him to go get his own autograph, or words to that effect.

He put her curt response down to being a stroppy mare until he later discovered that the lady in question was Princess Caroline of Monaco. SurprisedSurprised

I did, in fact, have a travel itinerary prepared for a trip last year that would have taken me from Dubai to Tunisia before heading to Gibraltar (a logistical nightmare, that leg) for a weeks sailing then I intended to head up to Zaragosa, on to Andorra, down to Girona, then up to Perpignan, through to Nice with daytrips to Monaco and San Remo.

Didn't happen though, sailing trip got cancelled when I was in Tunisia and I took up another option.

I've also wanted to visit the railway station in Perpignan, Mr Dali believed it to be the centre of the universe and who wouldn't want to go there Excited

I had a nice wee trip in September.
Flew in to Warsaw, spent the afternoon walking around the city, then train to Wroclaw for a couple of days, lovely town.

Then train from Wroclaw to Katowice, changed for train to Vienna rolling through the Czech Republic.
First time in Vienna, very nice, very similar to Paris but on a larger scale.

Then train to Bratislava, nice restored castle overlooking the Danube before heading back to Vienna for flight back to Dubai.
Had intended to also include Budapest but time was against me.

I used to do a bit of photography but gradually lost interest, my limited photos these days are taken on my phone.
Also used to pick up post cards on my travels but also dropped that habit, memories remain in my head only.
