How has everyone's year been? Give yourself a score between 0-10. As my boy got his trach out this summer after having it for 6 years I am going to give myself 9.5 Grin - can't have a 10 - need something to aim for Silly

Great stuff Hank.  Pleased for you and your family.

I think mine is 7.0/10. Better than average, did my first ironman, staying out of trouble at work, finances all good, saw England in Bangladesh. On the downside relationships still a bit sh1t and got a limited handle on the drink.  Still not doing drugs mind.

Earned more money than any other working year(and there have been lots of them)
Both daughters switched jobs and are much happier with new careers.
Number one son got the grades to do Physics at uni , and is loving it.
Still have no health issues as I rapidly approach 53 , and very grateful for it too.

9/10

Happy and of course not for everyone ,but i always like to hear  when folk have good happenings - so much depressing stuff in the news on a daily basis  and it just seems the world is full of evil stuff ,so it's dwelling on the positive  .

I always say, If the news was all good news no bugger would watch it .

No major deaths for me (including myself!) I'm healthy, fit, don't smoke but I booze too feckin much especially at weekends.

Daughter graduated while son #1 got engaged (2017 wedding), son #2 is still at Uni.

My footy team won feck all but that has become the norm, we could be announcing a new ground soon.

Poker I turned zero into $1k. It was one of my worst years however as playing freerolls really restricted me.

Normal punting I was hopeless (as usual) but made a few £££ via matched betting.

Overall I'd say 8/10 but 10/10 for being alive.

They are bigmo but some time soon you're gonna need to upgrade them; they take forever to load now
Report bigmo December 29, 2016 3:41 PM GMT
Strange they load normally for me.
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 3:42 PM GMT
really? Geez, I find the picture ones a chore and I've got a good internet connection (Virgin). Could it be my PC?
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 3:43 PM GMT
I call them the slow cooker threads. I open them before I go to work and by the time I get home they're just about done Laugh

It could be my browser.. I'm currently using IE.. do you guys use another?
Report bigmo December 29, 2016 3:49 PM GMT
Thanks Hank. I'm on Chrome.
Report Hank Hill December 29, 2016 3:50 PM GMT
Chrome for me
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 3:50 PM GMT
OK, I'll give that a go and see if it improves
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 3:58 PM GMT
Definitely an improvement but still taking a while to load. Just loads of pictures flashing up. Do you guys get an instant load?
Report bigmo December 29, 2016 4:06 PM GMT
No takes about 5 seconds on the picture ones. Unless it says 1 new then straight to it.
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 4:07 PM GMT
strange, both Chrome and IE are taking a lot longer than that Sad
Report Hank Hill December 29, 2016 4:09 PM GMT
Maybe your computer needs a maintenance. Could be something slowing it down.
Report Angoose December 29, 2016 4:14 PM GMT
Clearing your cache can often be the answer .....
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 4:17 PM GMT
That's good advice guys but I'm not that good at maintenance and I ensure that my cache is cleared every time I close the browser (automatically) - I'll start researching maintenance as the thread is clearly a good and worthwhile one
Report Angoose December 29, 2016 4:21 PM GMT
How old is your machine and how much junk do you have on your desktop ?
I like to keep my personal laptop lean and mean.
Report Aspro December 29, 2016 4:26 PM GMT
It's not that old at all; a few years at most. I'm also one for keeping the desktop clean and tidy. I don't play games either and none are stored on my machine. I use internet streaming a lot, especially the live sky games but as I said, I have it set to automatically clear my cache.

Punting's been hit and miss and my first 'win' ever in democracy is being stolen from me by the Remainders

But daughter is the most decorated Paralympic rower in history, was blown away by the Iguazu Falls and Rio and did a personal best in the British Indoor Rowing Championships. Family are healthy and we do loads of insane cool stuff and I've been accepted on the ride across Britain (LLands End to John O Groats) next September - and I'm seeing Sabbath on their farewell tour in Birmingham in February - so a great year to look forward to too.
