Nail Bars - Hot bed of slavery?

I always think nail bars are just money laundering fronts.

The penalty for employing illegal workers is now £20,000 for each individual who does not have the right to work in the UK. On the news this morning there is one Nail Bar which could be looking at a fine of £160,000.

Always thought most of these illegal workers were either in the catering trade or clothing factories - getting paid a ridiculous small wage for long hours, modern slavery ! - never thought about Nail Bars. News report said 161 London and south east nail bars were raided by immigration officers.

The Nail Bar/Knocking shop combo is apparently quite a popular enterprise.  Surprised it hasn't featured  on The Apprentice.

Very interesting Ron, do you have to undertake both activities simultaneously or cam they be performed in sequence ?

Thought I heard them say they raided 280 nailbars and found 14 people.

I could see the manicure element being the modern day equivalent of a reflective puff on a cigarette, that would make sense .....

Its just frippery thats marketed towards females.
Wouldnt have thought brothels would be a natural combination as they are marketed towards males.

I worked in East Ham for 30 years, the shopping mall with around 60 small retailers was raided one morning about 10 years back, it was quite surreal that day walking round, must have been a dozen shops all empty, not of customers but staff

actually the wife could be having her nails done while the husband goes through the back of the worker

the only reason its frowned upon here is because the politicians much prefer out of sight out of mind mentality
they much prefer the sweatshops that create the cheap imports are in other countries
