you need to work out what it is that is occupying your brain and keeping you awake when you should be asleep
Then take steps to address the issues - may require a change of lifestyle Are you healthy? are you a p1sshead? |

just watch a lecture on youtube? a physics lecture or astronomy one. It'll knock you out - but have your player shutdown your machine when the video stops so it doesn't wake you up.
take out the computers shutdown sounds. Cosmos with Carl Sagen was always a good choice. |

If you are like most of us you'll be looking for a quick fix, so it'll be drink or drugs, no good long term. Self hypnosis is easily learned and can be very effective.

No t.v after 6 o'clock,no betfair after 6 o'clock..etc..you get the idea,...go for a half hour walk about 2 hours before retiring,...have a mug of raw cacao made with milk 30 mins before retiring,..if minds all ''agog'' with unpleasant thoughts, replace them with thoughts of christmas day and how as a present for all your loved ones you gave them a betting slip of a five horse boxing day accumulator... drift into peaceful sleep as you picture their happy faces as all romp home at 33/1...
Wake up 30 minutes later screaming from the nightmare that you forgot to put one on for yourself...welcome back insomnia. |

Isn't drinking too much one of the main causes of insomnia?
You fall asleep easily enough, but wake up after a couple of hours. |

Alcohol induced slumber isn't proper sleep either Dr C. Alcoholics rarely wake up refreshed.

Actually the first part of my 'tale tall tail'' works,...for me....no real experts in this, sleeping tablets, alcohol etc etc are ineffective and more problematic long term,...sure, enough will induce ''coma'',..but you will wake with hangovers and feelings of never been asleep anyway=no rest.
Alcohol/drugs will give you that ''break'' from yourself and your thoughts though, for the time being,...you need to address the issues,..if you don't have ''issues''...you need to be checked for any other ''medical'' reasons, as said no real experts in this.Mix and match others recommendations, something will work....but it must be ''natural'' sleep you get. i.m.o. Of course. |

Funnily enough, I asked a Welsh friend of mine how many sexual partners he'd had. He started counting and fell asleep. |
