Surely most markets now days are just for people that can't afford
the internet. Surely (again) better deals can be found on ebay etc rather than wasting time looking around some market. It doesn't affect me anyway as i've not left the house since 1996 |

I think these markets are for council house types aren't they?

Or minority groups like the Scottish and the Welsh who have found their way to England.

Visited the one in Glasgow a few years back.
Was quite disappointed although I did buy a few things. Think we got caught up in the atmosphere. ![]() |

Now days you have more chance of researching sellers on ebay to get
a decent deal rather than heading off to the market to get a genuine item / deal. Markets now days are for foreigners ![]() |

TBH aka i've not looked around a market in 20 + years.
but can't imagine you'd be getting better deals than on the internet. as an example my dad said he'd purchased a phone case for £12 from a market stall he never felt he'd paid over the odds until he told me & i duly found the same cover for £3 delivered ![]() |

Ron we were in Glasgow for something else and decided to go into the town centre to see the lights.
I parked the car in St Enochs where the market was. We go to London every year in December and the wife insists on a visit to Harrods although we don't buy a lot there. ![]() |

My mother likes to go to them. I took her recently to the one in Manchester city center. She loved it but I think it was really only nostalgia for Christmas's past when she had a house full of kids. She bought some overpriced stuff to hang on her tree. Lovely hand made stuff she said, you can't find stuff like this anymore. Needless to say it seemed to be available on every fourth stall and screamed of Made in China. I found the whole experience very dissappointing, overpriced crap everywhere and a lot of alchohol being sold on the street. Wouldn't go again other than to take my old dear who thinks they're wonderful.
