We live in a sad vindictive mob society, will guardian readers crowd fund a prosecution
?Both probably in wrong here but cyclist more so. And I say that as a cyclist. I'll happily filter where if I think it's safe which annoys car drivers but that would be on the right and I always try to keep a door width out. I might do what the cyclist is doing but fairly slowly at the wider bits and at the point he reaches the car/taxi, I'd be slowed right down and possibly dabbing the left foot onto the curb. I rarely do that but would do so if at a junction where I'm going straight on and I'm going to be caught on the left in left turning traffic (most dangerous place to be) so I want to get ahead and out of the drivers blind spot. To go up that tiny gap at any speed in stopped traffic, past what looks ominously like a taxi which are prone to doors flying open, is darwin award stuff. |

it doesnt seem a bad article
they state the cyclist doesnt want to talk about it they state some cycling body is willing to fund a prosecution the car is well off the kerb and just before a cycle lane, its clearly graylings fault a timely warning to cyclists imo |

Cycling UK said “dooring” was a criminal offence

I always thought it was an opended door width - not sure what the highway code is on it these days - but always used to be.

To be fair to the guardian if they are accurately reporting the subject should be "The standards of human in the UK", wrt to the evangelical cycling body.
As I say I'm a cyclist but not one of the nutty ones, some cyclists are to cycling as militant feminists are to sensible equality for women. |

And your the barometer for what is sensible are you ?

Some things are simply accidents, the blame culture mob can't accept that tho.

a driver can hit another car & it goes down as an accident in most cases.
a passenger in a cab opens a rear door & hits someone & its a criminal offence. ****ed up Britain ![]() |

If I was skimming up the inside I would regard it as my fault.

Just Checkings 20:11 post is pretty spot on.
Unfortunately a lot of these cyclists want to be near flat out all the time |

If you have standing traffic how can some think its safe to wizz through at 20 + mph.
There's too much difference in speed, that's without bringing in the danger to pedestrians they pose who might be crossing |
