The College of policing has announced that new officers in England and Wales will need to have a degree before being considered for employment.

Well good luck with that project, who in their right mind would want to be a woodentop after going to university and successfully getting a degree?
I've been arrested four times, each time the charges have been thrown out, mainly because I was innocent each time but that didn't stop plod trying to get me done. The last arrest was for common assault and during the extensive interview it was all I could do not to burst out laughing at just how completely stupid the two arresting officers were, in fact I actually felt embarrassed for them. They could barely string a coherent sentence together between them, the one taking my statement had the hand writing and spelling of a 8 year old with Dyslexia. Now they expect you to be a university graduate! Laugh

Fair point Fishy, my niece has got a Master's degree and she has got truly appalling hand writing.

Yes, modern education does not correct spelling and grammar mistakes and hand writing is considered to be Neanderthal.

It is probably mainly about reserving those highly-paid top coppers' jobs for the sons and daughters of the Establishment rather than the common oiks who've worked their way up through the ranks.

Yes mate, I had a rather hectic year what with one thing or another but things have settled down now and I have finally got a date in January for surgery on my knee which has been extremely painful all year. I had quite a long period where I lost interest in betting apart from days out on course. I'll be back in the placepot competition next year, hope all goes well with you.
