A well crafted, learned, lengthy piece in today's Guardian.  Well worth a read.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/dec/08/welcome-age-anger-brexit-trump

It introduced me to the word 'Ressentiment', which Wikipedia describes as;

a sense of hostility directed at that which one identifies as the cause of one's frustration, that is, an assignment of blame for one's frustration. The sense of weakness or inferiority and perhaps jealousy in the face of the "cause" generates a rejecting/justifying value system, or morality, which attacks or denies the perceived source of one's frustration. This value system is then used as a means of justifying one's own weaknesses by identifying the source of envy as objectively inferior, serving as a defense mechanism that prevents the resentful individual from addressing and overcoming their insecurities and flaws. The ego creates an enemy in order to insulate itself from culpability

A lot of people prefer to isolate themselves from what they percieve likely to be opposing views these days, prefering the reassurance and comfort of the Echo Chamber.

The piece is called The Age Of Anger and how apt a title that is.
The author is fuming,is foaming at the mouth.
He keeps trying to show how well read he is but can't hide his rage.

The anger is pretty one sided, its in the Middle East where barbarians are beheading and stoning women with impunity.
Its in Yale where students are screaming at those with differing views.
Its in state sponsored thuggish organisations like UAF and Hope Not Hate.
Its rife among poppy burners..

Golly, I think the comments rather back up the thread title!

No feedback from anyone who has actually read it, I note.

Poor old Borneo, arch-Populist that he is, has yet to master the demanding 'Copy & Paste' function, so at least he has an excuse not to have read it.

Not that it put him off his trademark staccato burst (shades of Hemmingway in his sentence construction, or is he dumbing down to craft soundbites that  better appeal to the Masses) of post-truth Islamophobia.

How do you make out I didnt read it.
I read it and gave my opinion which is tis the author that's angry.

" rancorous twitter troll "
" serial liar "
" tax dodger "
" sinister pathologies "

Its littered with hate.

i posted a thread six months ago about same thing. People are losing their wigs every day in the street.
I had a young guy come up to me asking me for a cigarette... when i said i didn't smoke, sorry - he then said... I could do you.. fk you up.. I just looked at him and he turned and walked away. Crazy stuff.
I see something like this once a week now. Maybe it's the fizzy drinks?

The author has covered himself in Velcro suit and ran around in a Poundland philosophy store, before writing an article composed of whatever stuck to him (some Nitzche here, a nod to Ayn Rand-style Objectivism there), add a sprinkle of 'Large-L' Liberal cheese and simmer gently for 2,000 words

I mean people get angry for all sorts of reasons. but is it rational or irrational anger?

Radio 5 presenter this morning talked of travelling on the tube in London, and crossing his legs settled down to read the paper.
next thing the guy opposite accused him of kicking him and the whole thing threatened to escalate. Had to get off the train and jump bck on a few carriages down.
anything can happen in london

Be careful not to cross your legs on the tube. luckily he was on his own and not with family and he could jump off the train and back on,
this is in England.

There will be tourists visiting London for the first time who saw this incident, that's shameful in itself.

Give it a break lfc you mug. Just because you can't afford to live in London take your ridiculous vendetta against this great city elsewhere.

By:

Not at all. What's irrational is your suggestion that a few cross words spoken on the tube might put a major dent in the tourism industry. Things like that happen all the time and always have done.

make sure you make a donation to them then anx as they are in serious financial trouble, without the help of their readers it could go under. I know how you like to give to good causes with the donation you made to the Orgreave fund. Happy
