Make no mistake folks, this is as newsworthy as it gets. This is the JFK/Lennon Assassinations, 9/11, AND The Fall of the Berlin Wall ALL rolled into one giant and unstoppable News Snowball.

This, erm, 'News' was deemed SO momentous it required a taxpayer-funded BBC camera crew to travel to Northern France to record the historic scenes for posterity, and presumably to inspire future generations.

One day they will ask 'Where were you?' when you learned of this truly epochal moment in European history. (I myself was eating a piece of buttered toast).

We can only give thanks to Allah that we privileged few mortals lived to see this humbling and truly defining day for The New Europe (although it will inevitably mean the immediate end of jumble sales and the closure of all UK charity shops).

Mere words just can't do these scenes justice. Let the pictures tell the story.  Many will, of course, weep openly.

VD had 10 mins of him/her on her prog.....at the end it looked like the econo-migrants were trying to get away as fast as possible with their new found loot before  (as they may have imagined) were imprisoned in his motor.

Should have car-booted all the gear and put it towards getting a decent motor.

My favourite bit was when Her Serene Highness stood and addressed the humbled recipients of the largesse, supplying all sorts of completely unnecessary personal information. My dream for 2017 is that Prince Harry makes her his bride to signal New Britain, Year Zero.

BTW…if some typical British pensioner, Lucy Bloggs from Smethwick, wanted to travel abroad and hand over some old clothes to victims of an earthquake or other disaster, do you think she would have been indulged in this manner by the BBC with a project like this?

Makes one proud to be British. I'm off to pay my license fee again, though it's not due until July. Thanks, alun for sharing this.

A tad harsh, although yes in fairness to you I fully concede that their unhidden embarrassed faces suggested they might have been happier attempting Remove-Your-Own-Kidneys surgery rather than be present at this 'event'.

I'm guessing that they were just the unlucky victims of the 'short straw' as opposed to having been frogmarched there at gunpoint.
