The Goldfinch is the prada of small birds.
Robins are bullies they chase off any other similar sized bird from feeders etc. |

![]() There are always robins in my garden. They love mealworms and fat pellets. This picture, which I've posted before and make no apologies for posting it again, was taken in the spring at nest-building time. |

I only just filled some of my feeders about a week ago for the first time this winter, only sunflower hearts and suet balls so far but lots more to come.
3-4 Chaffinches and a Robin were the first to appear then Starlings on the suet balls. Today,3 Goldfinches and a Blue Tit taking the sunflower hearts.Wood Pigeons hover up what's dropped. For good value bird food check out the BRINVALE site. |

we have a robin full time in our garden (well as part of his territory)
this year because our sparrowhawk has gone we have had a bit of an explosion in songbird numbers we have a flock, of mixed great tits and blue tits that are often joined by house sparrows, and little coal tits our dunnocks get no peace from robin, who doesnt chase any other bird chaffinch hasnt been around since he spent all day fighting with his reflection in our car wing mirror for a couple of weeks collared doves were almost wiped out by sparrowhawk but one or two are starting to appear woodpigeons come in a clean up with the magpies crows and starlings blackbird and family flit in and out, hes still trying to chase some of this years young away |

I've got an Elder Berry tree within three yards of my varanda and the birds go mad for the berries. Get all sorts (not sure what they all are) but ruled by two huge wood pigeons who live at bottom of garden in leylandii. Cat next door thinks it's his personal duty to catch one of the but they outsmart him.

Thanks, guys! The birds in my garden are all well fed, not least the robin. I love the boundless energy and alertness of these little birds. The neighbourhood cats are an ever-present danger and sadly, some nests are raided and birds perish every year.

I'm not that observant about birds but there has been a plethora of robins in my local parks this year and often see one or two in my garden a few times a week. We seem to have had an influx of parakeets and parrots as well which I hadn't really noticed in previous years. We get an owl or two sometimes every now and then also.

see them every day close up , i am a gardener and there always seem to be one in every decent sized garden ,they feed on the worms and grubs that have been dug up ,brighten up a dull day!
|
|
By:
robin always gets close when i have trowel or spade in hand
other times he tends to sit on fence and makes inspection when i leave |

I love my garden birds. Always have robins.
Lovely picture, Foinavon. |

Solitary birds are robins, very rarely will you see two close together unless they are trying to kill each other

Saw first flock of redwings of the winter yesterday. Always a favourite of mine.

It is strange we only seem to see Robins when there is snow about
My cat brought in a dead one once, I could have killed him, I did tell him off, he has not brought in one since! |
|
By:
My parents have a robin that pretty much lives in their garden. Must be his territory.
|

Fair play to Facts for the redwing at least.
Seems like he has lived up to the promise to put up migrants even if it is a bird from Scandinavia! ![]() |
