Machines do take jobs, lots of them, it's just we tend to find other things they can't economically do. I can't imagine your car or phone would be so cheap if they didn't have robots on the line or had to be hand soldered.
It's when we run out of things people in the west can do, that's when the riots will come.
FFS there are even robot vacuum cleaners now that cost about a grand! At least for now they are desighned by humans. In 50 years time, will they be designed by a computer? Built by a computer? Sold by a computer (how hard would it be for argos or amazon to have virtually zero staff)?
The only job left will be presenting the one show, and Max Headroom has his eye on that.
