Just over half of Richmond Park's eligible voters have turned out to vote in the area's by-election.

There were 41,367 votes cast - or 53.6% of the electorate.
Report tictacman1 December 2, 2016 2:11 AM GMT
The Lib Dems have claimed victory in the by-election sparked by Zac Goldsmith’s resignation over Heathrow Airport expansion.

Voters in the south-west London constituency of Richmond Park delivered a Brexit backlash against Theresa May, overturning a massive 23,000 Tory majority.

Labour got just over 1,000 votes.

Yet - The Labour candidate is making an after election speech, on the platform, of massive proportions - going on and on and on about Brexit being wrong ...

So much so that even the BBC turned him off!

Just goes to show what insular thinking, self-important, self-serving, tunnel vision tawts all politicians actually are.

On question time last night there was a person in the audience speaking up for many millions of us, of being sick of being called basically ignorant racists for voting leave, and referring to that total pr*ck Tim Farron the week before who just sat there insulting all Leave voters.

Sure enough, the first words of the LD who won last night on a remain ticket were something like "this is a blow against intolerance".

I've voted LD in the past but I'm so angry at them at the moment for this patronising leftish "safe space" twaddle and their efforts to overturn a referendum result, I can't see me doing it again.

Spin glorious Spin.

If this by-election was fought,as is now generally agreed on Brexit issues, the Brexit feelings are growing stronger, and the remain weaker,

Referendum Remain 38.59% ''lead''
By-election Remain 2.83% ''lead'' a 35.76% drop in remain.

But this is just Spin glorious Spin.

Sarah Olney's interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer was cut short by her press officer after a brutal grilling from our presenter.

The interview lasted just three minutes before the newly elected Richmond Park MP was dragged off air.

Julia began by mischievously asking "when's the second by-election," before suggesting that the Richmond Park voters didn't really know what they were voting for - echoing the claims made by Remainers seeking a re-run of the EU referendum.

Our presenter also pointed out that Olney's margin of victory was similar to that achieved by the Leave campaign in June.

Olney insisted she and her fellow Lib Dems accept the result of the EU referendum and merely want a further vote on the terms of Brexit - prompting scorn from Julia.

The interview ended with Olney falling silent, before her press officer ended the call.

Hartley-Brewer-Chebs, and indeed Olney, failed to point out the result of the by-election is legal and binding whereas the result of the referendum is not.
