Ethel New series.

John Reginald Christie and his estranged wife Ethel are reunited after a nine year separation and move into 10 Rillington Place.

As war breaks out, the fractures in their relationship begin to reappear, with deceit, suspicion and violence never far below the veneer of married respectability.

Fact-based drama, starring Tim Roth and Samantha Morton

I found the film very sad...innocent man hanged, trouble with capital punishment

Is it any good? I've got the original film on dvd. How does this compare?
Report zorrostrikes November 30, 2016 7:44 AM GMT
the original was harrowing. Why have they made a remake? Dickie Attenborough ?

the remake will be crappola next to the original.

It's a 3 part serial. Each part focuses on one of the three main characters. Last nights was Christies wife.
So a different production than the film, but still relating the story based on factual evidence.
It won't be as  ' claustrophobic ' as the film. And like Attenborough 's role as Pinkie in Brighton Rock, it won't be bettered by any remake. But Tim Roth is very good at presenting the audience with Christie's insidious persona.

Yeah - his air of pervy menace was exceptional.

Thought first episode last night was a very slow build and gradually increasing the tension, could turn out to be very good if it becomes more gripping. Richard Attenborough was superb in the film as the creepy Christie, Tim Roth also gives a very chilling performance as the mass murderer.

"Each part focuses on one of the three main characters. Last nights was Christies wife. So a different production than the film..." And last night you only seen it from what is wife saw and knew, and you didn't see him with his victims, but that was still a very chilling scene when she went into the bedroom, but why did she lie for him ?

Recorded it but not seen yet.
It will have to go some to get in the same parish as the film, Attenborough and Hurt are a tour de force.

Just checked his entry on that fountain of all knowledge, Wikipedia.

Looks like Dibble made a host of monumental errors in the prosecution of Evans

"Over a 10-year period until his arrest in 1953, Christie stored all of his victims' bodies on his property. Some he buried in his garden, while others he stashed beneath his floorboard, or hid away in a secret alcove in his kitchen."

Just one body would surely have stunk like hell !  But he killed at least 8 in 10 yrs !
