Hey Vel.

Hi Bodil - were you in Borussia tonight for the game...
? |
|
By:
No. Oddly enough I did go there in the early 70s. Lots of honest blonde endeavour and no crowd violence whatsoever. Made me realise that there was bound to be a resurgence in German nationalism and expansionism in the late 2010s.

Even so, you must commend the Gerries for keeping the ticket prices at but a fraction of the cost of ARSENAL MATCHES.

I was just considering the great triumvirate of late 20thC British SF/Fantasy. Ballard dead, Aldiss not well. Moorcock losing bits due to diabetes etc... Bit like Scottish football I suppose, except very much less terminal.

Oh god yes - ticket prices - Sky (and BT Sport) subscribers shovel so much financial **** into the maws of Premiership owners, players and agents - eventually there will be a reckoning. Hopefully with lots of televised hanging, drawing and quartering. Hey, they could execute in football stadiums.
It will happen in the lifetime of some our readers. |

Well I tended to read flashy writers like Harlan Ellison and Ray Bradbury myself, before moving on to WATCHING TELLY DETECTIVES...although I enjoyed BILLION YEAR SPREE.

I bought all the DANGEROUS VISIONS books but skipped all the short stories...only read the intros...

I kind of joined up with Moorcock in Texas but I got too drunk so I forgot my security code - but they do send me a happy birthday on my birthday. Nice. For years I worked around where Ballard lived and often intended to take him out for lunch but never got round to it. He would have loved it, and inserted me as a person-from-Porlock marker. I think I will contact Aldiss this week - just to thank him. He did a lot EU euro imagining - events overtook. Expect his obituary soon.

Well...I never had oysters and Guinness with Beckett or anything, but I did once pat Jock Stein on the back...

Shhh ... Ellison is notoriously litigious. Not sure he is still alive but his lawyers certainly are. The Dangerous Visions 1&2 (Again) are as good a place as any to start SF.
But slightly left behind ... As are we all, sooner or later. |

He's a bit like yerself, Bodil -- he hates everything, including STAR TREK, SEINFELD, and HUDDERSFIELD TOWN FC.

Sounds a FINE kinda person. Me and Donald will welcome him to the New World Order.

And you'll need to have connections to one of the NWO - just mention my name and you'll be fine. I've added it to the doorman's list just in case. Can't be too careful.
