If you donate at least $10 to Bono's charity (RED), the singer is giving you a chance to drink tea with him and Julia Roberts
, enjoy a private concert from U2 or party in Las Vegas with "Magic Mike" star Channing Tatum.
Those are three of the "experiences" donors can possibly win after giving money to (RED), which raises funds to fight AIDS. The campaign dubbed "(RED) SHOPATHAN," in its second year, launches Tuesday, one week before World AIDS Day, which is Dec. 1.
"It is a battle now for funding. It's just a street battle, pitch battle, and we have to keep this stuff in the news or literally those people don't get the drugs. It's that simple," Bono said in an interview with The Associated Press last week. "We have to just remind people that America has led the war on this tiny little virus and is winning the war, but it is unthinkable, but it is possible, that if we stall on funding then we start to undo all this good work."

"The Killers are doing Christmas songs to end all Christmas songs," Bono said with a laugh,
"which actually, believe or not, has me singing 'if you don't help people with AIDS you're going to hell.'"

Lost a lot of credibility

He should sell Blickling Hall and his hatchback collection to fund this cause.
Didn't his investment companies Facebook deal make him a billionaire?
I'd rather stick £10 down my japs eye.

Looks like Bono finally found what he was looking for.
The U2 frontman is now the world’s richest pop star, and his music had nothing to do with it—in fact, it was an investment in Facebook that netted the Irish rocker his big payday.
As Britain’s Mirror first reported, Bono bought a 2.3 percent share in Facebook when the company went public in 2009—the investment was at that time worth $56 million. It’s fortunate that he didn’t sell the stock, because thanks to the social media giant’s ongoing popularity, the share is now worth over $1 billion.

well I can live with him giving the money to AIDS research, at least he will not be giving it to the filth Blair's mob.
BB if he actually gave it then i would have no problem
I bet Bono has been to a few pizza parties at the white house
The One campaign is not abut handing money to victims on the ground, its an advocacy and campaigning organisation...hence the % figure seized gleefully upon by the shock jock above.
Plus it itself is largely funded, not from the public, but the Gates foundation.

Bono, is the antithesis of whats good with having money, he does not pay a single penny in tax to the Irish Government, when the Country was going down the tubes he ran off with his wealth to some foreign land , yet year after year he leads the way with the begging bowl, let them fund it themselves I say.
Only found out today that his real name is Paul David Hewson. Wonder why I never knew that
... Probably didn't give a feck to be honest!

Mine came in a quiz at work (normal 3.30pm tradition) and was asked who Paul David Hewson was. Didn't have a Scooby! (big fan me!)
what on earth are you talking abut Wonks?
He pays plenty of tax in Ireland as an individual as he lives part of the year there.
His company, of which he owns only 20%, operates outside Ireland, derives the vast % of it's income outside Ireland and chooses tax efficiency.
And as for the begging bowl,he has long since moved onto to more efficient forms of effecting change.

The fight against Aids is being won, third word debt forgiveness was a 100 Billion dollar success stry.....he levereged his stardom to promote and lead these hugely worthwhile crusades.
Still, hard to keep everyone happy!
Still, hard to keep everyone happy!
An out an out hypocrite.
Its all about his feelings,he demands the Irish government lash out money in aid so he can hold his high.
He preaches all over the world but evades tax.
He is bosum buddies of two other Irish hypocrites,Bob Geldof and Peter Sutherland.
Three obsequious EU supporters, three no border merchants.
All three in favour of diversity and naturally all three sent their children to the least diverse schools they could.

Nobel Peace Prize should be a mark of shame.

Can't help but think of one joke that always makes me chuckle-
What's the difference between God and Bono?
God doesn't walk around Dublin thinking he's Bono.

HOW DID THIS GO

The U2 stars Bono and the Edge are gambling on their biggest hit yet after investing millions of dollars in an internet storage company which is tipped to become the next Apple.
The Irish singer and his guitarist colleague were announced as individual investors in Dropbox, a file-sharing service that lets users retrieve their photos, videos and documents from any web-connected device.

Bono on stage slowly clapping his hands , he says every time I clap my hands someone dies of hunger in Africa,a wag says ,well stop it then you evil bastard!.....
Bono just starts clapping faster though as he is evil
Bob Geldof the same, except Bob has no hits whatsoever, since the other member of the band took back i don't like mondays.
Bob has a fat account himself.... give till it hurts.

Millions of people like to hear Bob Geldof talk about causes as diverse as debt relief and the rights of fathers but it seems not so many, at least in Italy, are as keen to hear him sing.
The Irish rock musician and political activist beat a retreat back to London at the weekend after cancelling concerts in Milan and Rome because too few fans had bought tickets.
Only 45 people turned up on Friday at Milan's Civic Arena for a performance by the 51-year-old singer and songwriter. The venue has a capacity of 12,000.

Whys everyone moaning about him no giving money to the Irish government ? those f..wits wouldnt even charge Apple and spend the money on the country so why should U2 contribute ?
Ireland has been good to artists and hoss breeders over the years. U2 own a lot of property in Ireland. There were demos in Ireland against U2 and the tax situation.
Wallis.
Apple provide jobs and more importantly arent moralising and preaching.
Bono is demanding Ireland pay more out in aid and wants to dictate how tax is spent yet the hypocrite evades his own tax.
Its a recurring theme wealthy individuals wanting to dictate how governments spend money without contributing anything of their own.

I base my dislike of Bonio on him being an enormous tw@t.
Everything else is just confirmation of this.

It's wrong when Musicians start using their fame and the stage they are meant to be using music for, the stage the fans paid good money to see you perform on, as a platform to air their own political views or rants, Greenday who are well past their sell by date were doing it the other day and got a lot of publicity for it. Some of these bands and artists really think they're God the way they go on. It doesn't seem to cross their minds either, that there fans they are preaching to.....might just not share the same views and instead may well be annoyed or insulted by. Amazed their labels or whoever they work with/are sponsored by, don't tell them to stay out of politics.
Having said that, U2's music is quality, don't care much for Greenday.
