They closed my local Corals in Dulwich earlier this year, my mate manages the one in Beckenham High Street and I am going to see her tomorrow afternoon for a pint.I'll see when they are dishing them out and will get a few dozen and dish them out on here to anyone that wants one.

Does anyone still use a diary? Mobile phones have downloadable versions, that's why I think they don't send them out anymore.

Great gesture Slippy although I'll not want one.

I've always felt the points system should be used as a kind of raake back. Buy Tee Shirts, diaries ect from the shop rather than get a % discount that most of us never use.

Back in the 1980s there were so many bookmakers giving away so many diaries and calendars you could wrap up a spare one, and as long as it featured a picture of Desert Orchid give it to a girlfriend as a Christmas present.

Thirty years on, no accounts left, no diaries and no girlfriends either. Where did it all go wrong?

15 years ago I received about 7 or 8 diaries from all the major bookmakers - usually 1 per account and as I then had at least 2 accounts with each bookie (sadly not anymore apart from one), I received plenty of spare ones which I gave away to workmates who were interested in the sport. Some of them were really good and very comprehensive.

But in recent years, they started to reduce in numbers and December 2014 was the last time I received a diary for 2015, and now nothing!

I purchased a Channel 4 racing diary for this year from Amazon at £8.99. It has minimal info in it, so very expensive for what you get!

So, SlippyBlue, I would like to take up your offer of a free 2017 racing diary please. Not fussed about which bookie it's from, but the last Bet 24/7 diary was extremely good quality in my opinion!

I like to keep hard copy diaries for records of past events. I have kept a diary since I left home in 1969!

Anyone remember the beautiful racing calendars that Schweppes used to produce? Years ago as a racing-mad schoolboy I had a 1974 edition with Indianapolis on the front page as the January cover star. Sadly threw it out .

They looked like this. Beautiful portraits and the fixtures printed below.

If a bookmaker sent me a free diary, I'd check immediately how much I'd been losing to him.
