Jack was actually only KO'd twice in his career, unfortunately they were 2 out of his 3 last fights when he was past it, and they seem to stick in people's minds.

I won't ask whether the Great Man ever got battered in his chippy by an unhappy customer.

Laugh  I hadn't known the Great Man had a 'Jack Douglas' comedy side to him.

Well, apart from when he fought McAlinden obviously.

I'd like to think that the streets of Swadlincote will be full of people paying their humble respects to the man who put that town's unforgettable name on the map forever.

That McAlinden-Bodell brawl:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLJhiaqkf_o

An excellent punch after the bell from Bodell there. Pity he never got a chance to repeat it after the second round.

Those two rights from McAlinden which sent Bodell to the canvas feel painful just to watch. Very upsetting to read on McAlinden's wikipedia page that the poor sod was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue six years ago.

RIP Jack.
