copy/paste..
In 2008, 96 per cent of black Americans voted for Barack Obama; in 2012, 94 percent of us did. We have been his most loyal constituency.

The meltdown continues..

Owen Jones kicking off now

'Trump’s victory is one of the biggest calamities to befall the west and the effect is that every racist, woman-hater, homophobe and rightwing authoritarian feels vindicated. This rightwing populism can no longer be dismissed as a blip. Indeed, without an urgent change in strategy, the left – perhaps all progressive opinion – will be marginalised to the point of irrelevance. Our crisis is existential'

Is the Guardian worse than the Daily Mail? Surely not.....I happen to enjoy reading a bit of the Guardian. I also enjoy reading the Sunday Times. I steer clear of certain journalists and am free to read what I want...for free....

Owen Jones is right. The Left has failed everywhere, and has been rejected by everybody.

Probably the best take on all this ever.
Jonathon Pie nails it.

Another who admits the liberal, left, PC crowd have got it so wrong.

I agree with zenLaugh

If anything is clear from the last 18 months or so it's that the left has to get its house in order and get back to offering a viable alternative to the me me me crowd.

Unfortunately for us we have Corbyn who is just utterly hopeless but refuses to step aside for someone more capable. Meanwhile the tories, realising Labour are no opposition any more, are more worried about UKIP and are lurching ever more towards right wing principles that would have been deemed abhorrent a couple of years ago.

Sh!t's got real, and people need to get in the game frankly.

The issue with political correctness Pineapplehead is that it is an attempt to silence people or falsely expose them as racists, xenophones, bigots etc.

People have had enough.
You are part of the problem Pineapple.

Please don't agree with me again.

Disagree.

People only moan about political correctness so they can act like a blert. If people didn't act like such blerts then there'd be no need for a raft of discrimination laws but unfortunately as per the last couple of posters here the world is full of whoppers who need to be shown how to behave in a civilised society. Sadly, they're just making the case for why democracy is a flawed ideology.

Whilst PC may have gone to far, for example not being allowed to call dinner ladies, dinner ladies, but dinnerperson instead, at the same time it's helped to reign in the racists who from a bygone era and helped to shape the thinking of future generations who mostly now don't think it's acceptable to use such derogatory throwaway terms like half baked, we live in more enlightened times thanks to the new generation growing up in a more multi cultural society, unfortunately, many of the older greyer lot are still clinging on to their yooof and will carry on being the bumbling, cranky prejudiced characters they are till they reach the grave. That mentality is dying out.

The Political Correctness fraternity change the goalposts though scandy
Nativism is now interpreted as racism.
Wanting priority for your native workers has been construed as racism by the PC crowd.

That is the biggest mistake the PC crowd has made.

Thinly veiled "I don't think anyone who disagrees with me should have the vote"

It's people like him we should be most worried about.

10 years ago it was "I'm not a racist but..." now it's nativism not racism. The slithering goes on.

That's pretty prejudiced in itself.
And indicates that rather than dying out, prejudice is alive and well.

It's simply its targets that changes.
