Will never happen of course. US/Mexico border must be damned near 2,000 miles ffs. Who's gonna build it, illegal Mexican brickies?

There is already around 700 miles of fences and barriers at the most 'at risk' places. His idea isn't really that radical in US terms. The reality of the border is already really bad.
